As the aging population continues to grow and the number of older people continues to grow,there are more and more problems with old-age care.Nursing homes become more and more important.The construction level of most nursing homes in our country are still remain in meeting the basic needs,only providing basic life care services for the elderly.Lack of attention to the multi-level physiological and psychological needs of the elderly is very common.The planting design of most nursing homes just use simple and formalized form.Neglects the important role of planting design in promoting the physical and mental health of the elderly.The research is based on field investigation and analysis.Through the field investigation of 25 nursing homes and questionnaire interview with 120 elders,find present conditions of plant scenery planning of these nursing homes in species composition,plant arrangement mode and current problems.The evaluation and suggestions of the elders on the plant scenery planning were obtained,and physiological,psychological characteristics and needs of the elders were summarized.This paper also concludes relevant theoretical research which support planting design for elders,such as Physiological And Psychology of The Aged,Landscape Ecology,Demand Level Theory and Planting Design Theory.In order to create a comfortable and secure environment for elders,the research presents 7 planting design tactics to adapt and meet the physiological,psychological characteristics and needs of elders form regulatory ability,movement ability,sensory ability,memory ability,alleviating the loneliness of old people,increasing the sense of belonging,increasing the sense of achievement.
