Under the background of industrial upgrading and urban renewal,industrial heritage has attracted the attention of all sectors of society with its geographical advantages,use values,and historical and artistic values.At the same time,as a low-energy,pollution-free and high value-added emerging industry,the creative industry complies with the trend of upgrading the industrial structure.Taking the creative industrial park as one of the directions for the transformation of industrial heritage can not only solve the problem of the industrial heritage,but also provide a more diverse material carrier for the creative industry.In the creative industrial park,the communication space has an important role: first,it can enhance the group’s knowledge and creativity level by integrating knowledge through communication;second,it can promote the creation of ideas by creating a good communication atmosphere.The public communication space,what’s more,is an important part of the communication space of the park as an open space for users to conduct various public exchanges and activities.This paper selects the design of public communication space with practical significance in the relevant transformation as a research point.Through field research and interviews on creative industrial parks that have been transformed from the industrial heritage of Beijing and Guangzhou,research has been carried out on the public communication spaces such as the streets,squares,and gardens of the park as well as the user’s own characteristics and behavioral preferences.The problems involved in the transformation of the public communication space were sorted out and summarized,and the design strategies of the public communication space were discussed when the industrial heritage was transformed into a creative industrial park.The dissertation is divided into six chapters.The first chapter describes the background of the research,the basic concepts of the industrial heritage and the creative industrial park,and the related research results at home and abroad.It also proposes the purpose and significance of the research,research methods and research framework.In the second chapter,through the literature research,the changes of the function and demand of the park in transformation,the cognition of the communication and communication space,the clear research objects and characteristics,and the concept and types of the public communication space in the Industrial Heritage Creative Industrial Park are defined.The third chapter analyzes the situation of the public communication space of four typical creative industries in the case of the transformation.The fourth chapter studies the method of interviewing spatial users combining with questionnaires.It concludes that the characteristics of users in the park,the patterns of communication behavior,the features of communication places,and the user’s psychological characteristics and space requirements.Chapter 5 summarizes the corresponding design strategies on planning,various types of public communication space design,and the spatial atmosphere creation level.In the sixth chapter,the design of the public communication space in the second phase of Beijing Tianning I was introduced.At the end of the thesis,the main conclusions of this study are summed up,which provides some reference for the design of public communication space in related transformation in the future.
