| The opening of high-speed railways has facilitated the passage between cities, improved people’s travel patterns, enhanced regional connections, optimized resource allocation in the region, accelerated urbanization, and promoted regional integration.Due to the different scale and development of cities along the high-speed railway, the degree and direction of the impact of high-speed railways on cities along the route are also different. For small and medium-sized cities along the route, the high-speed rail has a positive impact and the negative impact has followed. Therefore, the opening of high-speed rail is both an opportunity and a challenge for small and medium-sized cities along the line. How to grasp the opportunities brought by high-speed rail,so that the economy and other small and medium-sized cities along the line of competitive weakness are fully and rapidly developed with the help of high-speed rail,it is particularly important. This paper takes small and medium-sized cities as the research object, empirically analyzes the impact of high-speed rail on the economic development of small and medium-sized cities along the line and the problems existing in small and medium-sized cities, draws conclusions and proposes corresponding countermeasures.By reading and arranging the existing research results, most of the existing literatures are theoretical or empirical studies on the positive effects of high-speed rail on the regional economy or the urban economy, while the research on negative effects is less, mostly from theory.Angle studies, especially on the economic impact of high-speed rail on small and medium-sized cities along the line, are rare. This paper reviews and evaluates domestic and foreign literatures, introduces the theory of economic growth such as core peripheral theory,point-axis theory and growth pole theory, and measures the economic linkage strength of small and medium-sized cities along the line before and after the opening of the high-speed railway. The results show that after the opening of the high-speed railway The economic ties between cities have been significantly improved. The economic growth effects of high-speed rail on small and medium-sized cities have been analyzed. The development of tertiary industry and economic growth in small and medium-sized cities before and after the opening of high-speed rail have been simply calculated. Finally, the analysis of high-speed railway pairs The mechanism of economic growth in small and medium-sized cities along the line.In terms of empirical analysis, based on China undefined 2006,2012 and 2016 three-year data on small and medium-sized cities, this paper regards 2006 and 2012 as short-term,and from 2006 to 2016 as a relatively long-term,and first groups the data according to county-prefecture level and city level. Then on the basis of the regional grouping, finally using DID regression analysis, the first group regression shows that the opening of high-speed rail in the short-term on the county,prefecture-level small and medium-sized cities have no significant impact, its impact direction is negative; In a relatively long period of time, the opening of high-speed rail is still not significant for county-level cities, but the impact on prefecture-level cities has changed from short-term insignificance to 10%.The effect of high-speed rail on economic growth is changed from negative to positive.Because the regression results of county-level cities are still not significant,it is uncertain whether high-speed rail has a positive effect on economic growth. The second group regression shows that the short-term influence of opening high-speed rail on county-level cities is not significant, and the influence direction is negative for the middle-east and prefecture-level cities, but the influence direction is positive for the central prefecture-level cities. In the long run,the influence of high-speed railway on the county-level cities in Eastern and Central Regions are still not significant, and in the direction of influence, the eastern cities change from negative to positive, and the central region does not change. For the eastern prefecture-level cities, the influence direction is still negative, while the central prefecture-level cities change from short-term unremarkable to significant under the 10% level, and the direction is positive. The research conclusion shows that the opening of high-speed railway does not promote the economic growth in the short term, and in the long term,high-speed railway plays a more significant role in the economic growth of prefecture-level cities. In terms of economics,high-speed railways have a significant effect on the economic growth of prefecture-level cities in the central region. From the perspective of county-level cities, the improvement of high-speed rail networks has a positive effect on economic growth in the eastern region. Finally, this paper draws lessons from the experience of foreign high-speed railway development and puts forward corresponding countermeasures and Suggestions based on the research conclusions and problems existing in the development process. |
