Timber residential building is one of the most important traditional building types in our country,which meets the living needs of the people in our country for quite a long period of time.Due to the restriction of timber properties,natural and human factors,Timber residential buildings are not widely used for a long time,and few of them can survive for a long time.Timber residential buildings can play a unique role in meeting the needs of modern people’s living activities,but there are also some problems to be solved in terms of durability and adaptability.In view of this,the paper analyses the causes and influencing factors of durability problems,puts forward a scientific method for evaluating the durability of timber components,study on key technologies and optimum design measures for improving the durability of timber structures,and probes into the suitable model of timber residential buildings.(1)According to the characteristics of timber and the performance requirements of residential buildings,the evaluation method of durability of timber residential buildings is studied.From different levels of materials,components,functions and living activities,this paper analyses various factors affecting the durability of timber residential buildings,such as fungi,insects,mechanical damage and chemical media.The concept and connotation of the durability of timber residential buildings were carried out.In summary,the time-dependent model for the durability analysis of timber residential buildings was established,and the evaluation method for the durability of timber residential buildings was proposed.(2)Aiming at the durability of main components of timber residential buildings,the key technologies and optimization measures for improving the durability of timber residential buildings are studied.A large number of investigations have been carried out on existing timber residential buildings,and the first-hand information has been obtained.The problems of mildew,surface peeling,decay,cracking,deformation,loosening and fracture in existing timber residential buildings have been analyzed and studied.It is concluded that excessive moisture content of timber components is the key to the above problems.The key technologies such as reducing the stress ratio of timber structure,rational selection of materials,preventing water vapor from infiltrating into the structure and improving ventilation and evaporation are put forward to ensure that the moisture content of timber components is below the risk value,which can greatly improve the durability of timber residential buildings.(3)Based on the durability optimization measures of timber components,this paper discusses the long-term and high-performance modern timber residential building model from the aspects of structure selection,functional space,shape and building skin technology.Combining with the existing eodes in China,this paper puts forward the building modes and key technical measures of low-rise and multi-storey timber residential buildings,and analyses the resistance and potential of the development of high-rise timber residential buildings.In this paper,the durability of timber components and its influencing factors are actively and effectively explored,which provides a feasible idea for the design and development of modern timber residential buildings in China.
