Abundant Power supply is the basic condition of national economic development. The power sector of Pakistan has seen a major transformation in last five years.A number of large hydropower plants have also achieved completion, whereas till date more than 1600 MW of solar and wind power plants, have also been inducted to encourage clean energy. The study of my research work focuses on the Assessment of building a new Wind Power plant(WPP)under CPEC project. The research has been conducted in Pakistan by using research reports, meeting government officials and conducting interviews. The study is based on the descriptive research;data is gathered from different institutions and stake holders namely Pakistan Meteorological Department and Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies responsible for collecting wind data and identifying wind corridors in different parts of Pakistan. The aim was to collect and organize data and search possibility of exploration new areas for development of new WPP.The results and finding of this research not only cover the specific areas of construction based on recommendations by the Government of Pakistan entities and International organizations like World bank, but also reflect light on the Environmental Monitoring Plan.Proper mitigation strategies have been indicated in the study. The specific objective of this research paper was to identify and access the potential of untapped wind power potential sites. The Southern and western corridor of Pakistan consists of suitable sites for discovering wind behavior and power generation potential. The results of wind potential in these areas have been shown.Another objective of the thesis is to identify the Power sector entities of Pakistan that are responsible for the overall procedural work for granting rights of work. The Impact of a new WPP on its environment and surrounding has also been described and an Environmental Management Plan is put forward along with proper mitigation plans on the basis of previous studies done by the companies. Moreover Risk of investments for potential investors has been indicated and proper mitigation plans have been put forward.
