Research On Restoration Design Of Shen Kuo's Mengxi Garden

This thesis takes Mengxi Garden in Shenguo,Zhenjiang as the research object,and through collecting and textual research of historical materials,studies its restoration design.Located near Mengxi Lane,Jingkou District,Zhenjiang City,Mengxi Garden is the former residence of Shen Kuo,a famous scholar,scientist and political militarist in the Northern Song Dynasty.It occupies a place in Chinese classical gardens,but it has been annihilated in history.However,the relevant documents and materials of the park have been retained so far,which can be used for textual research,so as to try to restore the work.Based on the ancient historical materials of Mengxi Garden,such as gardening records,local chronicles,poems and commentaries,this paper restores the famous gardens in the remaining words to the gardening images with two-dimensional and three-dimensional figurative drawings,and studies the gardening techniques and styles of private gardens in the south of the Yangtze River in the Northern Song Dynasty.The contents of restoration design include collection and correction of historical materials,combination of space units,reconstruction of landscape relationship,derivation of building models,plant allocation and analysis of gardening artistic conception.The basic process of the study is from four directions:data collection,restoration design method,Mengxi Garden Examination and landscape detail design.Firstly,Shen Kuo collected,translated and studied the gardening records,local chronicles,ancient poems and comments related to his life and gardens,and extracted the elements related to the gardening space information and the gardening site status.In this paper,the goal of landscape restoration design,restoration scale,design elements and design process are discussed,and the design method of this paper is determined.Then through the related space elements,the general space image of Mengxi Garden is arranged,and the preliminary space combination is obtained.Finally,detailed design and deliberation are carried out on the landscape units of the reconstructed restoration design itself,such as hill overlapping,water management,architecture,flowers and trees,and the rational recovery process is combined with the subjective design process.The overall design carries out detailed research and narration from the aspects of garden style,characteristics,layout,shape and artists,restoring and displaying the garden image of Mengxi Garden,a famous garden of a generation.
