At the end of the 20 th century, the number of colleges and universities rised, the scale of colleges and universities expanded, and the location of colleges and universities moved to the edge of the city from the center, which enabled the campus to pay attention to the campus environment.Campus planning is prevalent with large-scale greening or water surface as the center of campus,so does the North. However, there is less water and rainfall in the North, water replenishment usually depends on groundwater or rivers. In recent years, reclaimed water and rainwater are widely used as the sources of water replenishing, which is not real ecological, the water in the most of campus are simply seen as artificial lake.Due to their weak ecological performance in construction and operation, they can not be regarded as ecological wetland system, most of the campus is under water during the rainy season, which is a bad cycle of water resource.Based on the integration of wetland with human settlement in southern China, this paper applies the theory of Functional Wetland to carry out the feasibility study on the multifunctional integration of wetland with northern colleges and universities, trying to combine the multifunction of the campus with the wetland construction, such as Sewage Treatment,Water Reuse,Rainwater Collection,Flood Control,to restore water ecological balance and form ecology cycle and water-saving cycle,to achieve the goal of no flooding in summer and no drought in winter, while improving the ecological nature of wetland in the northern campus. The northern in this paper means the semi-humid of the south warm temperate climate zone, this part of the region has more precipitation, higher temperature in winter, shorter glacial period, thiner icing, and the wetland is stable during the icing period, which meet the nature condition of campus wetland construction. The research process of this paper is as follows:Firstly, through the selected cases studying and field survey, the experience and shortcomings of the wetland operation in the northern campus are summarized, and then to optimize the shortcomings with the Functional Wetland, which is preliminarily proved that the multifunctional integration of wetland with northern campus is feasible.Secondly, the theoretical framework of multifunctional integration of wetland with northern campus is summarized. Finally, the multifunctional integration of wetland with northern campus is implemented through the optimization design of Zhengzhou University campus wetland.
