Investigation And Evaluation Of The Public Space Of CHJ Hi-Tech Park In Shanghai

Urban public space is the physical environmental basement of public life and is also an important place to reflect urban vitality.As a significant part of urban public space system,Hi-tech park public space has special significance for promoting the coordinated development of industry and city.But our country has limited research on the theory of Hi-tech public space,at the same time the research on the quality evaluation system of the public space is not so perfect.According to PSPL research,expert interviews,reconnaissance trip,researching and analyzing the material environment space.Based on the characteristics of the development stage of the Hi-tech park,public space environment,employees psychological needs and recreational way,following the principles of objectivity,comprehensiveness,hierarchy,operation and timeliness it constructed an Hi-tech public space quality evaluation model.It is easy to get the quality level of the 34 public spaces in Caohejing Hi-tech park with the above model and use the date from reconnaissance trip,and then it can get current situation characteristics after overall analyzing the single public space quality,single factor results,comprehensive quality of the public space and single factors comprehensive comparison analysis.The advantages and disadvantages analysis is under the point of industry and city integration.Finally drawing the domestic and foreign outstanding public space case,it offers some optimization and promotion strategies.The primary research results are as follows:(1)General characteristics: comparatively small site scale,multiple types,spaces distributed more in center than in the edge,relatively simple space interface,large recreational demand,inadequate facilities.(2)Evaluation model:It constructed a Hi-tech public space quality evaluation model in which the criteria layer has three factors of openness,comfort,mage cognition and the evaluation layer includes 12 factors.(3)Recreational utilization characteristics:Most of the users are very young with high education background and high salary.They usually choose the nearest space within walking distance.78% of them visit the public space on weekdays,60% of them come there everyday.Middle day is the busiest time.There are four main recreational ways: 22% passing by,20%chatting,19% relaxing,18%viewing.(4)Supporting facility characteristics:There are extremely differences on quality and quantity among the 34 public spaces,and the general level is low.There are only 8 spaces have the whole supporting facilities,23 spaces have seating facility,19 spaces have environmental facility,9 spaces have marking facility,16 spaces have landscape sketch.(5)General environment characteristics : Two spaces are “ extremely excellent”,ten spaces are “excellent”,sixteen spaces are “good”,six spaces are “middle”,none of them are “bad”.(6)Advantages and disadvantages:There are many advantages,such as flexible distribution,adequate quantity,multiple types,long open time,freely in and out,latitudinous site,beautiful environment.There are also a lot of disadvantages,on the plan point,the independent spaces are not enough,center has more spaces and edge too less,internal and external linkage is weak,low site identification,inadequate facility,poor activity experience;on the management point,low openness level in public spaces belong to enterprises,hard site is comparatively less and most of them are occupied by other use;on the design point,the top cover is too less to staying in the site,culture and art is inadequate.(7)Optimization and promotion strategies:Adding four independent spaces;Further opening fourteen dependent spaces;Optimizing the public space system which has high integrity,accessibility,cohesion,beauty and comfortable degree,utilization rate,activity level,easily initiating social activities.Strengthen the interaction between the Hi tech park and urban environment.Developing the space quality on site identification,culture and art construction,supporting facility complementary.The main innovation points of this research are as follows: Clarifying the public space concept and characteristics,summed up its specialties on physical environment,users and use time.Digitizing the subjective evaluation on public space,it constructed a perfect evaluation model under which it can easily get the quality level after input in the date of the public space.It smartly quantified the difficult subjective evaluation data and got simple,clear,practical conclusions.Due to the limitations of author's own knowledge and vision of academic field,this article has many shortcomings: it is lack the horizontal comparison with same type Hi-tech park public spaces;the standard of the quality evaluation model leads it can't specially treat some special place.Exploring these deficiencies will be the author's the next step,the research of public space will keep on improving and perfecting.
