A Study On The Villages And Vernacular Architecture Of The SHE Minority In East Fujian Province

For quite a long time,the study of She minority's culture mainly concentrated in the sociology and ethnology but rarely in the architecture aspect such as living conditions and living environment.But with the effects of urbanization and acceleration of the surrounding Han nationality's culture,the feature of She's architecture is gradually disappearing.This is an urgent problem to be solved.With research methods such as field research,interview record,building surveying and mapping,case comparison,this dissertation analyzed on the traditional villages and buildings of She minority in the eastern part of Fujian Province.It mainly consisted of three parts:From the macro level,the first part took five villages as examples to discuss the She's traditional villages characteristics.From the medium level,the second part divided She's traditional buildings into two parts,residential dwellings and public buildings,and analyzed each kind of building's function,historical origins and evolution,layout,facade,profile structure,architectural decoration features.The third part from the micro level,gave a deep look to She'scarpenter skills,including craftsman system,different names of the building components and so on.The purpose of this dissertation is to fill the gaps in the study of She's architectural culture in eastern part of Fujian Province,and to leave a reliable record for later protection in this place.Also,this paper aims to initiate,hoping that more scholars can participate in the study of She's traditional architectural culture.
