Trunk road is an essential element of urban road system,which is planned to carry massive and fast trips between regions.In general layout of land use,trunk road serves regular trips,but this research is characterized primarily with the presence of special land use along the road,for example,convention and exhibition center.When the center is functional,large amount of abrupt traffic is generated according.Considering the abrupt traffic,this thesis aims to propose scheme of cross-section and scheme of crossing which can meet the special demand,taking Haigu Street in Tianjin as an example.At first,in order to support the subsequent study,the construction background is analyzed.The project overview,background and functional orientation are analyzed in detail.A field survey is carried on existing road network and the planned road network and metro network is got from the related planning.And vital nodes are identified.On the basis of fundamental data,road traffic is divided into background traffic and exhibition traffic for separately forecasting considering the special compositions.Background traffic is got using “four-stage” method.Referring to Tianjin comprehensive transportation planning,traffic zones are refined into smaller ones to analyze the traffic volume generated by the interactions between project area and other regions in general condition.And learning from the methods for Beijing Olympic game period,exhibition traffic is got by taking exhibition area as independent variable.Then,synthesizing the recommended value of Urban Road Design Manual and calculating method of Highway Capacity Manual,capacity of normal section is determined.And combined with the forecasting results of traffic demand,the number of lanes is calculated,on the basis of which,the cross-section schemes of normal section and exhibition section are determined,respectively.Eventually,two-carriageway scheme is selected for normal section due to its enough space for further expanding and scheme of main and side roads is selected for exhibition section due to its convenience links to exhibition center.At last,according to the traffic value and the capacity of lane of different direction,number of entrance and exit lane of junction is determined,and then competitive channelized schemes of junctions are proposed.Schemes with island are the winners.At the same time,two pairs of entrance and exit are reserved along the side road of exhibition area.Traffic organization is made accordingly.The highlight of the thesis is,without sacrificing the function of regional arterial road,to provide a reasonable solution to serve the eruptive and large-scale traffic.
