As an important part of the project,the construction machinery has the characteristics of large volume and complicated operation.Therefore,improving the efficiency and safety of the construction machinery is of great significance to the project management.The development of information technology has provided solutions.The BIM(Building Information Modeling)technology and virtual construction technology are used to simulate the operation of the construction machinery,which makes it possible to perform more accurate,comprehensive and dynamic mechanical operations planning before construction,which helps increase the efficiency of the use of machinery and ensures the safety during operation.The selection and location of construction machinery is the premise of the effective operation of machinery.However,whether it is actual onsite operation or operation simulation,it depends on experience to implement,so it is difficult to ensure the efficiency of mechanical operations.Therefore,in this paper,mobile crane,one of the most complex construction machinery is selected and the algorithms of their automated selection and location are explored.Based on the information structure characteristics of BIM technology and the crane lift planning requirements,the automatic mechanism of mobile crane selection and location under virtual construction scenarios is designed,and the application of the mechanism is explored.This paper analyzes the key elements and operating characteristics of the mobile crane lift operation,determines the constraint for crane selection and locating,summarizes the three constraints-environmental constraints,operational constraints,and safety constraints,and proposes using the cost of the crane,minimizing number of crane movements and the lifting time to find the best crane specification and locations.According to the constraints and optimization conditions,combined with the data structure characteristics of the BIM model and the operation parameters of the crane,the selection and location information requirements are determined.In this paper,we parse the BIM model and automatically obtains the geometric and attribute information of the construction project.Based on this,the crane selection and location mechanism is proposed.In particular,first the initial specification of the crane that meets the basic conditions through the principle of crane price optimization is selected;then the crane lift operation at each alternative location point is simulated,and the infeasible location points and crane specification are eliminated by calculating the constraints,and finally the best location points are found via two optimization methods,minimizing lifting time and crane movements.Based on the above selection and location mechanism,this paper implements a prototype system for automatic selection and location of mobile cranes,and demonstrats the working results of the system through examples,confirming the feasibility of the algorithm,and demonstrates the practice significance of the system in guidance for construction machinery operation.The method of automatically identifying mobile crane selection and location presented in this paper provides information technology support for construction management,improves the production efficiency and safety of lifting work;and it also provides concrete ideas for the mechanical operation simulation and improves the selection and location process in the construction machinery simulation,as well as provides reference for further exploration in construction process intelligent simulation.
