Architectural Research On The Faculty Residential Area In National Sun Yat-Sen University Shipai Campus

National Sun Yat-sen University was founded in 1924 by Mr.Sun Yat-sen,and began to build the Shipai campus in 1933.The faculty residential area of Shipai Campus was built in 1936.Yang Xizong,Lin Keming,Fang Ditang,Zheng Xiaozhi,four Lingnan architects designed six kinds of buildings,with diverse architectural styles,reflecting the exploration of Lingnan architectural modernization.The staff residence is part of the National Sun Yat-sen University Shipai Campus and was announced as a cultural relic conservation unit in Guangzhou in 2002.This paper explores the background of the planning and design of the National Sun Yat-sen University faculty residential area,studies the characteristics of the residential area planning and architectural design,and clarifies its value and the importance of protection and repair.The paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,summarizes the relevant research on the faculty residence of National Sun Yat-sen University Shipai campus,and expounds the research object,background,significance and method.The second chapter briefly describes the background of the construction of faculty residential area,and briefly describes the construction of modern residential areas in Guangzhou and the construction of faculty residential areas in colleges and universities,providing a basis for later research.The third chapter and the fourth chapter respectively analyze the planning and various types of buildings of the faculty residence of National Sun Yat-sen University,combine the design blueprints and historical materials,sort out the planning characteristics.Discussed the connection between its planning ideas and Model Residential Areas,sorted out the types of residential buildings and the layout of residential buildings during the period of original construction,and analyzed various residential characteristics.The fifth chapter briefly describes the current situation of the staff housing,discusses the repair methods and proposes rational utilization of the buildings.Finally,the conclusion is that the protection and repair methods should be formulated for each residential building,and the historical environment of the staff residential area should be protected as a whole.
