Space Syntax-Based Analysis Of Deck Layout And Design Of Passenger Flow For The Cruise Ship

As the "crown pearl" of the shipbuilding industry,the design,construction and operation markets of cruise have been dominated by western countries for a long time.In order to improve the cruise economy in our country,the central and local governments have put forward a series of programs for its development,and it clearly seeks for breakthrough of the core technologies of design and manufacture of the high-tech ships,such as cruise ships in the “13th Five-Year Plan”.Under the strategy background of vigorously developing the cruise industry,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to make a breakthrough in research of the cruise ship design technique.The cruise passenger activity flow line is an important part of the cruise design technology,which has the function of assisting tourists to understand the deck space,guiding tourists’ behavior activities,dispersing tourist flow and improving the commercial value of the deck space.At present,the relevant research on the design of cruise passenger activity flow line is still a blank in China.The cruise passenger activity flow line is closely related to the layout of deck space.For the built space environment,with the determination of the spatial layout,the form of the flow line is also determined.The traditional ship general layout design based on cabin functional requirements and crew working needs does not take into account the demand of passenger flow lines.This is not adapted to the layout of the cruise deck space,which is mainly based on satisfying passengers’ demand,improving passengers’ experience and increasing commercial value of deck space.In view of the above situation,this paper begins with the essence of the cruise ship deck layout – space and introduces the space syntax theory.The quantized analysis of the cruise deck space is achieved by quantizing the parameters of space configuration,such as control value,integration value and intelligibility value.Taking the accessibility of space layout as the criterion,the different deck layout schemes to improve the flow line form of passengers are evaluated.The purpose of this paper is to try to build a new model for the quantitative analysis of the cruise ship deck space,and the new ideas and new methods for improving the design of the cruise passenger activity flow line.Firstly,this paper introduces the connotation of space syntax theory,the way of space segmentation and the parameters of quantitative space configuration.It also discusses the feasibility and scientificity of space syntax in quantitative analysis of the layout of cruise deck,as well as the limitations of space syntax theory.Secondly,Depthmap software was used to analyze the 4th and 5th deck space of "Quantum of the Seas",and a new model for analyzing the layout of cruise ships deck space was constructed.The application of space syntax in the layout of cruise ship deck space was expanded.Then,by analyzing the form of passenger activity flow line in a specific deck space,we summarize the form,influencing factors and design principles and methods of cruise passenger flow line.On this basis,the relationship between cruise passenger flow line design,deck layout and space syntax theory is summarized.Finally,based on the interactive relationship between cruise passenger activity flow line and deck layout,the space syntax theory was used to evaluate different deck space layout schemes in the form of improved passenger activity flow line.The purpose of this paper is to help ship designers to make an objective and accurate flow line design of cruise ships.
