The rapid development of general aviation in recent years has also driven the progress of the drone industry. At present, drones have expanded from military applications to all aspects of production and life. The widespread use with drones has created an increasing number of drone accidents.Although the safety and reliability of drones are improving in the course of development, the current technology is far from common security. At present, the related research on UAV mainly focuses on the technical level, but rarely improves the safety of UAV from the perspective of operation. Therefore, this study starts from the availability of software and aims to improve the safety of UAVs flight by improving the software availability of the drone ground control system. This study distributes the Purdue University Usability test table to enterprise users to assess usability issues with existing software and to provide a basis for further software improvements.Based on the existing usability problem, combined with the operational requirements of the task experiment, the software of Mission Planner UAV Ground control system is improved accordingly, the task experiment is carried out,and the eye track and mouse click Data in the experiment are collected and analyzed.Through the analysis of the results, the best version of the improved usability is fed back to the user, and the usability score of the improved software is obtained again through the Usability test checklist as a late subjective verification of the objective usability experiment.Through relevant research, the conclusions are as follows:1.The currently available Mission Planner UAVs ground control system software has a large number of usability problems in the eight dimensions of the usability questionnaire, and the availability issues with high importance and low scores mainly appear in the dimension of “flexibility”.2.On the basis of the Latin side experimental design, there are significant differences in the task completion time of different software versions, and this indicator can be used to select the best usability software. After analyzing the percentage of gaze points,it was found that this index could not be used as a reference for this usability study.3.On the basis of the percentage of the number of gaze points to introduce the average number of points of attention per unit area and the average number of mouse clicks per unit area two indicators. The analysis results show that these two indicators can significantly characterize the usability of the software version, that is,the improved version 2 of the three task experiments is the most usability.4.The analysis results of the average gaze duration and mouse click interval in the experiment show that the experimental version 2 has the best usability.5.The later user feedback verification score indicates that the availability of the software version selected by the task experiment has indeed improved.
