With the rapid development of the national economy,the capacity and technology of steam turbines are becoming higher and higher.And it is developing to large capacity,high efficiency,environmental protection and low energy consumption.Journal bearings are important parts of the steam turbine.Their performance affects the stable operation of the turbine.According to the structure and rotation direction of the steam turbine elliptical bearings,the lube oil enters the elliptical bearings produced by Shanghai steam turbine plant mainly from the big part of the wedge-shaped oil gap,that is,from the right side of the bearing.Because of the requirement of the user,the oil inlet from left side may be considered.So in this paper,the effects of different oil inlet modes on the characteristics of the elliptical bearings used in ultra supercritical steam turbine are analyzed and evaluated.The oil inlet modes in this paper refer to the oil entering from the right,the left and the both sides.Based on the structure and the parameters of the elliptical bearings,the calculation method and model of the bearings characteristics under different oil inlet modes are established.And the calculation by finite element method is verified by measurement data in field and other related research results.Through data analysis,the influence of the oil inlet modes on the static and dynamic characteristics of the bearings is evaluated.Comparing the calculated and allowable values of the key service parameters of the elliptical bearings under different inlet modes,it is concluded that the bearings under the oil inlet from right side have the best performance and that the oil inlet from left side mode feasible,but the highest temperature is high.By analyzing the static and dynamic characteristics of elliptical bearings under different inlet methods,the theoretical basis is provided for selecting the oil inlet mode and obtaining better bearing performance in engineering applications.
