The heavy quay side STS crane is the most important machine for the container transportation in the container terminals over the world.The electrical control system commissioning program,as the critical part of the whole STS crane program,is disturbed by the difficulty to control and manage the schedule for a long time.In front of the pressure that the company deliver 300 hundreds cranes every year(Equals to deliver one crane/per day),and the situation that most projects cannot hand over before the dead line keeps standing for a long time,ZPMC is always punished and fined by customer base one the contract,it is urgent to improve the previous process management method.The thesis aimed at the research of critical chain process management(CCPM)that based on the theory of constrain,and analyzed the advantage and the feasibility of the CCPM that to use on schedule management of the electrical control system commissioning project.Based on the current critical path method on the program schedule management,applied the CCPM as a new core of project schedule management,using the method that is easy to understand to plan the project schedule,using the calculation method of elasticity factor to set up the buffer for the project schedule.Manage the project schedule by controlling the buffer and some other project management step to optimize the current project schedule management method and achieve the target to solve the existing issues.After practicing on the project of two quay side cranes for Halifax,the hand over happened 19 days before the contract deadline,and the duration was reduced by 4 days compares to the designed schedule.The project was completed before the dead line without any fine.The improvement ensured the cash flow and created a healthful environment for the company running.Meanwhile,the successful experience of the process management on the project of Halifax could be applied on other projects of the company,to make the program schedule management more reasonable and effective,and formed a set of standard project schedule management method in the company.
