Taking a 2.4 kW solid thermal storage electric heater of a company as the research object,aiming at the problems of insufficient heat storage rate,excessive temperature of contactable external surface and excessive temperature of outlet air of heat storage passage,the method of experimental measurement and numerical simulation is adopted in the study.Based on the research results,the newly designed solid thermal storage electric heater is designed which meets the current national standards.Firstly,the performance of the existing heater is tested,and the basic data of heating power,heating characteristics and characteristic point temperature are obtained.At the same time,Hot Disk thermal constant analyzer is used to measure the thermal physical parameters of the regenerator and insulation board of the original electric heater.On this basis,a numerical model is established by referring to the geometric parameters of existing solid thermal storage heaters,and the numerical simulation is carried out by using CFD software.By analyzing and comparing the numerical simulation results and experimental data under the same conditions,the correctness of the numerical simulation method is verified,which lays a foundation for further optimization of solid thermal storage electric heaters.In the optimization process of the solid thermal storage heater,by means of numerical simulation,the relationship between the factors and the main technical indexes of the solid thermal storage heater(heat storage rate,external surface temperature,outlet temperature,etc.)is calculated and analyzed by changing the performance parameters of the thermal storage material,adjusting the geometric parameters such as the width,height,outlet structure and insulation plate thickness of the thermal storage heater.The schemes of increasing the heat storage rate of solid thermal storage heater,reducing the outlet air temperature and reducing the external surface temperature are obtained.The numerical simulation results show that the heat storage rate of solid thermal storage heater is more than 75 %,the outlet air temperature is less than 115 ℃,and the external surface temperature is less than 95 ℃.According to the simulation results,the prototype of the newly designed solid thermal storage heater has been tested comprehensively.The results show that its thermal performance fully meets the current national standards.The research results provide useful reference for the research and development of solid thermal storage heater.
