With the continuously demanding of people in cities for a better living quality,it is a trendy request for the openness of the recreation space boundary of the cities.The boundary flexible design is one of the effective methods to realize this openness.On one hand,it helps to add the interface between in and out of the parks,while it can also activate the recreation function of the closed boundary space.This problem is especially outstanding within the linear parks.The linear parks are the narrow meadows with some certain recreation function along the city roads,walls and river systems.The huge amount of the boundary space is due to its long and narrow shape,running through different blocks and connects different city function areas.The activity of the boundary space is especially important for parks,which have small width and thus the effective areas decrease with the restricted width.There are six linear park in ancient ruins are the typical representatives of the above description.Through the quantitative analysis of the boundary space of these parks,field investigation,measurement and statistics of the softened boundary data,the quantitative relationship between the boundary types and the overall boundary space of each part is obtained,and the rules of the flexible boundary are explored by objective factors.It can be concluded with surveys on these parks that squares,fitness spaces and opening altitude difference boundary are designed for the living zones through which the linear parks run.The boundary spaces around the living zones satisfy the demands of residents for recreation.It’s suitable to design more passageways and squares in the flexible way,along with plants to differentiate the spaces,and it’s important to set more opening spaces to avoid the negative impact of the traffic blockage on the park areas.The park boundary spaces around the business district have functionalities reflected in the parking zones as well as employing the flexible factors like park lanes,square and chairs to satisfy the functional demanding for resting and evacuation.There are two kinds of boundary spaces around the roads.When the boundary spaces are near the main avenues,83 percent of them employ the plant landscapes to fulfill the space division in a flexible way which helps beautify the environments andreduce noise.When the boundary spaces are near the roads in the living zones,the park boundary employs different kinds of handrails to satisfy the safety demand on the premise of the visibility..Through the flexible handling of boundaries,various functional spaces and activities will be integrated to provide a good venue for urban space,making the boundary into an effective park area instead of an ineffective space,so as to better realize the integration between man and nature.
