Studying the traveler’s mode choice behavior and excavating the intrinsic mechanism of mode choice will help to formulate effective traffic guidance strategies and optimize the structure of residents’ mode of travel.With the development of regional economic integration and urbanization,five national-level urban agglomerations have been formed in China.With the rapid development of urban agglomeration,the travel habits of travelers are constantly remodeling to adapt to the changes of the inter-city travel environment of urban agglomeration.In order to form a comprehensive transportation network of urban agglomeration with reasonable structure,it is necessary to study the intercity travel characteristics and travel mode choice behavior of residents in urban agglomerations.This paper aims to study the intercity travel behavior of urban agglomerations.Firstly,it analyzes the intercity travel behaviors and travel psychology of urban agglomerations.It is believed that inter-city travel of urban agglomeration is to satisfy a specific purpose and goes through the whole process of one-way movement from one city in the urban agglomeration to another city in the urban agglomeration through the inter-city trunk line travel stage and the urban connection stage at both ends;Secondly,the basic theory of travel behavior analysis is introduced,the characteristics of inter-city travel in urban agglomerations are analyzed from three aspects: scale,purpose and distribution.The subjective and objective criteria are used to classify the influencing factors of urban group intercity travel modes.The objective factors include individual socioeconomic characteristics,travel mode characteristics and travel characteristics.Subjective factors include individual subjective evaluation of the service characteristics of transportation modes,including convenience,comfort,safety,economy and rapidity;Lastly,based on the theoretical basis,the integrated model of the structural equation model and the nested Logit model is constructed by the inter-city travel survey data of Chengyu urban agglomeration.The relationship between perceived value and behavioral intention and latent variables of service characteristics of public transport and private car modes in inter-city trunk travel was analyzed by SEM.The fitness values of latent variables of service characteristics are substituted into the fixed items of the modes of inter-city trunk line travel stages.At the same time,the influence of connecting travel stages and mode service characteristics on the mode selection behavior of inter-city trunk line travel stages is analyzed.The results show that:(1)The intercity trunks who choose public transportation are more concerned about the economy and convenience of the mode,while the intercity trunks who choose private cars pay more attention to the convenience and speed of the mode;(2)The greater the utility obtained by the intra-city connection phase corresponding to the mode of travel of an inter-city trunk line,the greater the probability that the intercity trunk line travel mode is selected;(3)The higher the traveler’s subjective evaluation of the service characteristics of inter-city public transport or private car,the higher the probability of this mode being selected.Among the five service characteristics considered,the most convenient way for travelers to choose the intercity trunk line mode is the convenience and comfort of the mode.
