An improved combined co-phase traction power supply system is proposed,which includes a single-phase traction transformer and a power flow controller(PFC)in electrified railway.In the new system,the power quality problems caused by single-phase traction load can be solved in the grid side and continous power supply can be given to the electric trains without neutral areas in the traction side.The mathematic model of the new system is built based on the theory of power transformation.The PFC compensation current are derived dependent on the principle of power balance.According to the power quality standard in China,the advanced partial compensation algorithm is given compared with full compensation one,which can illustrate the advantages for reducing the capacity of PFC.At last,the validity of compensation algotithm and the control technique are verified by simulation and case study and the performance of the new sysem is excellent for the application in the field.
