Qinghai Province, located in the northwest of China,is an important province on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau.Qinghai Province is also the origin of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Lancang River, known as the source of the three rivers, and is an important protection area of ecological security in China. The Mako river is located in the core area of the three river sources. At the same time, its basin is also the inhabited area of ethnic minorities in China, and it is an important cultural intersection. As one of the important forms of people's settlements in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, the construction of residential environment in the settlements directly affects the ecological security, national unity, regional cultural heritage and social stability of the plateau. In the process of the development of natural and human environment, the spatial form and adaptive characteristics of settlements have typical regional characteristics under the influence of regional resources and human activities.Firstly, the traditional local settlements in the Marco River Basin are systematically investigated and the literature is comprehensively analyzed. The spatial morphological characteristics of the local settlements along the Marco River are summarized, and the reasons for the formation of the external characteristics and internal structural characteristics and the related factors are analyzed and studied.Although the appearance of local settlements and residential buildings along the Marco River in plateau environment is simple and simple, the value of the regional human settlements environment is very valuable. The research scope of the project is from sailaitang Town,Bama County,Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture,Qinghai Province to Youyiqiao village,Dengta Township,Bama County, the upper reaches of the Mako river. The traditional settlements in this area are well protected and the blockhouses are distributed intensively. In this paper, literature review, field study, systematic analysis and induction, and dynamic development research are used to study the settlements in the Mako River Basin by using the theories of architecture, urban and rural planning andhuman culture. The main research contents are divided into three parts as follows:The first part is Chapter 1 and Chapter 2,basic part.It includes the background, research scope and object, research content, research theory and basic concepts, research status at home and abroad, research purpose and significance, research methods and framework;interpretation of the natural and human environment along the Marco River,to lay the foundation for the research of the noumenon part. The second part is Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.Taking the traditional settlements in the Mako River Basin as the research object, three dimensions of macro, meso and micro are established. The spatial form of the settlements along the Mako river is explored by using GIS and the correlation of the altitude, slope, water environment and land resources of the settlements. The middle view analyzes the overall shape and internal structure of the settlement. The last part analyzes the settlement space form under the micro dimension, mainly including the plane distribution and function layout of buildings and houses. In the adaptability of settlement space form,it is also divided into three dimensions. And further analysis and summary of the natural and human elements implied in different dimensions of settlement space form.In Chapter 5,the problems existing in the development of settlements in the Marko River Basin are summarized, and the architectural design method based on the study of environmental adaptability is proposed. The third part is Chapter 6,conclusion.This paper summarizes the spatial form and adaptive characteristics of local settlements in the Mako River Basin, and applies the research conclusions to the new design.
