Tangier Med Port Container Throughput And Developing Countermeasure

Naval gigantism,the adoption of cooperation and integration strategies by the carriers,the expansion of mega-carriers and the rise of global operators terminals have led to enormous changes in the port sector.Ports today must develop in an environment of fierce competition.This competition is observed between different ports,the same port and between terminals within the same port.In addition to its main function as a place of transit,loading and unloading of goods,the port has also become a real mall,logistics and a place of industrial exploitation of nations with maritime interfaces.Indeed,maritime transport is a strategic location for the Mediterranean area.In order to make it working well,major infrastructures must be created.We can to evoke here the port of Tangier-Med in Morocco,located at the crossroads between Europe and Africa,this port has the purpose of capturing container traffic thru its capacity.As well as a creation of an integrated industrial zone with a high technological potential for automotive,aerospace,computer and other added value high-tech industries.Foreign investments are favored thru to the measurement system incentives.The port complex of Tangier-Med is creating a dynamic in favor of technology transfer and the diffusion of positive externalities.We also note that the main industrial and economic centers are located in coastal cities creating real port complexes.It is so clear that any port development strategy must be studied in logic of synergy and interaction with the city.Experts and Ports managers have developed different models that summarize the evolution of Tangier Med Port and operations for port development focused on good governance "Port Reform of 2006" and regionalization "Port strategies by 2030".In this research,several Forecasting models are applied to exactly forecast the Tangier Med Port Container Throughput.These models are the Grey model,the Linear Regression model and the Double Exponential Smoothing model.After the application of each model,the results is compared with the mean absolute percentage error,To choose which model is the most suitable for this article and to have the best data available on the research work,becoming at the same time,the best forecasting model for the Tangier Med Port Container Throughput.A forecast of the Port was finally made for the period covering the year 2019 up to the year 2021.
