Research On Digital Protection And Inheritance Of The Traditional Architectural Techniques Of Seaweed Houses In Jiaodong

In recent years,the protection of traditional dwellings and villages has received extensive attention from the academy and governmental departments.Relevant discussions have continued to be in-depth.Because of varieties of traditional dwellings' and villages' forms in different areas,their development modes are distinct to some extent.In the Jiaodong Peninsula,seaweed houses,as a kind of local dwellings,have been focused by amounts of scholars.Studies of seaweed houses cover the fields of Architecture,Folklore,and Design.However,most of these studies propose protection and renewal strategies for the architecture of seaweed houses,while attentions on protection and inheritance of traditional architectural techniques of seaweed houses are not enough.A few pieces of research related to this issue are mainly introductions of techniques and processes.There is a lack of practical strategies to solve the problem.Therefore,this dissertation practically applies the construction of a digital database and network for the architecture of seaweed house and its techniques and summarizes the characteristics of the public open space of traditional seaweed house settlements as the carrier of local memory and other elements,and local expressions.Based on this,an in-depth analysis of the problems faced by the digital protection,inheritance,and development of traditional villages of various types of seaweed houses,and conclusively this study presents the countermeasure for the problems:the establishment of a database and digital museum.This paper consists of five chapters.The First Chapter is the Introduction,which mainly introduces the research background,purpose,and significance,as well as related policies and dynamics of domestic studies on seaweed houses.Meanwhile,this study regards digital technique applying to the protection and inheritance of traditional seaweed houses' architectural techniques as the primary research object.Based on these,the dissertation will present structure and roadmap.The second chapter focuses on the origin of seaweed houses and the investigation of current status.By analyzing the historical origin of the "Shanzuo"technique,which is the critical step of building seaweed houses,this study clarifies that the core of the "Shanzuo" technique is the laying of a soft organic material by hand as a roof.Besides,based on remains as evidence,building seaweed houses began from the period between Yuan and Ming Dynasty.What is more,through examining related research results and appreciation of seaweed houses' status survey,the dissertation will show the current status of seaweed houses' distribution and preservation.The third chapter analyzes the necessary levels of seaweed houses architectural techniques' protection.This study elucidates three significant levels of seaweed houses architectural techniques' protection,which are culture,technique,and substance.There are local material,modeling features,spatial distribution,and ecological wisdom in the culture level,while the technique level contains structure,the process of craft,and inheritor.The number of buildings remains,the period of construction,the status of functions,the status of protection,and the environmental style are content of the substance level.The fourth chapter applies the Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation method to the quantitative evaluation and analysis of the protection of traditional architectural techniques of seaweed houses.The result of the evaluation of the basic levels shows that the technique level(0.50)is the most significant,and the important secondary level(0.28)is culture followed by substance level(0.22).Thus,the technique is the essential content of the digital protection of seaweed houses.The fifth chapter elaborates the roadmap and essentials of the digital protection system of seaweed houses.By sorting out the digital protection techniques,this chapter points out the advantages and importance of digital heritage protection technology.It provides concrete measures for digital protection of seaweed houses,construction of the database and digital museum.The database construction is mainly based on the 3D modeling of Yandunjiao village.At the same time,the digital museum is built according to the evaluation results of the protection of seaweed houses' architectural techniques.The sixth chapter is Conclusive Remarks and Prospect.This dissertation explores systematical research on digital protection seaweed houses.Through evaluating seaweed houses' current status and protection of its architectural techniques,this dissertation concludes the crucial content of digital protection of seaweed house.Furthermore,the dissertation regards the construction of the database and digital museum as a solution and elaborates roadmap and essentials of digital protection of seaweed houses.This study enriches the content of the protection of seaweed houses,provides a new perspective of protection and renovation measures of seaweed houses and laid a foundation for further protection and inheritance of seaweed houses.
