Urban public space is the representative of the city's image,and public spaces that can show the characteristics of the city are easier to deepen people's impression of the city.Shaping urban public space with characteristics and improving the quality of urban public space can enhance the value of the city,solve some problems in the current urban development in China,guide the image of a healthy and dynamic city,and promote sustainable urban development.At present,China is in the stage of new urbanization planning,and it is especially crucial to build a good urban public space.The research on the design of urban public space in China is still in-depth.This article aims to study the problems in the process of urbanization in China and discuss how to design public space in the context of shaping urban characteristics.This paper summarizes the research progress of urban public space at home and abroad,summarizes the relevant concepts and theories of urban feature shaping and urban public space,analyzes and studies typical cases of urban public space at home and abroad,and further proposes the shaping of urban features.Design methods and countermeasures of public spaces.Among them,under the guidance of connection theory,place theory,and sustainable development theory,the design methods respectively start from five perspectives of characteristic shaping,systematic design,participatory design,ecological design,and safety design,and propose how to reflect accordingly.The design method of urban characteristics,echoing urban characteristics,experiencing urban characteristics,continuing urban characteristics,and ensuring urban characteristics,and taking Nanjing as an example to carry out practical research activities to verify the above methods,combining theory with practice,from the historical background and development of public space Summarize and summarize the process,feature analysis,status quo and evaluation,and draw a more complete conclusion.
