The construction industry of China is labor-intensive with low level of technological progress.The issues like "IT investment trap" impede the application of information technology for many enterprises.Therefore,based on the management during the construction phase of the project,the thesis explores the quantitative evaluation and specific mechanism of information technology to improve the construction labor productivity from the perspective of characteristics and essence of information technology,which provide evidence and guidance for the investment and adoption of IT for the construction enterprises.Based on the review of related literature in China and abroad,this study constructs a conceptual model of the impact mechanism of information technology on construction labor productivity and raises a double-layered hypothetical relationship,namely "the relationship between the information technology and engineering management" and "the relationship between the project management and construction labor productivity.".Then,the five characteristics of information technology,six characteristics of several dimensions of engineering management,and three indicators of construction labor productivity are summarized,and 22 impact relationship assumptions are established.Therefore,based on the above 14 latent variables and 22 hypothesis,44 observation variables are proposed,and the corresponding Likert scale is designed for data receipt and analysis.In the process of empirical analysis,based on 302 sample data,the reliability analysis and validity analysis(exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis),correlation analysis and differential validity of the model are conducted for hypothesis testing after the indicators are verified to be significant.The model has good fitting degree by one path correction and three MI corrections.Then,based on the obtained standardized path coefficient,the direct and indirect influencing relationships,path,and degree of influence between variables are analyzed.In addition,the indirect total effect value analysis table of various information technology features on construction labor productivity is obtained.Finally,the main conclusions are drawn:?The Integration and Currency of information technology have the greatest impact on construction labor productivity(p=0.234,0.239),and the Integration is mainly reflected in the substantial reduction of work Velocity through systematic platform and simplified Data Various.The Currency is mainly to improve the Effective working time by improving Communication efficiency and improving Dynamic management;?Project Quality is affected by all technical characteristics,particularly by information technology(total effect value).The main contributions of this research are as follows:?Establishing information technology application from the perspective of feature and the research of construction labor productivity was based on personnel perception;?Proposing information technology model and empirical method that affects construction labor productivity through engineering management;?Enriching and supplementing the research on the impact mechanism of information technology on labor productivity at the micro level,and use the structural equation modeling to quantitatively evaluate the influence path and influence degree of information technology characteristics on construction labor productivity.
