Classical gardens, listed as world cultural heritage, still display the infinite charm of traditional Chinese culture. But after experiencing the tempering of time, all aspects of the heritage have become weak and vulnerable.Improper use and erosion of natural forces often cause accidental damage to the garden.Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee has attached great importance to the protection of cultural heritage.General Secretary Xi said that "it is necessary to protect the historical and cultural heritage of the city as much as cherishing one's own life." Therefore,in this context, the use of modern science and technology, comprehensive measures to explore the theoretical methods and practical experience of classical garden monitoring and early warning system is very necessary for today's heritage protection research. This paper takes " garden heritage monitoring and early warning" as the research object, through consulting a large number of relevant materials and on-site investigations,as well as the discussion of relevant research dynamics at home and abroad, clears the concept of "garden heritage monitoring and early warning" research, and explores the current heritage monitoring work. The main problems faced are to improve the scope of research objects, explore the basic methods and technical systems for proper heritage monitoring, turn to quantitative research, and enhance the awareness of monitoring and maintaining heritage maintenance to boost the effectiveness of garden heritage monitoring and early warning.Secondly,it analyzes the constituent indicators of the garden heritage monitoring and early warning system, namely the heritage ontology and its influencing factors. The heritage ontology includes five major parts: buildings, plants, rocks, water bodies and furnishings. The influencing factors include passenger flow and environmental factors. Then the paper analyzes the reasonable monitoring plan for each type of indexes, including its specific monitoring content, monitoring methods and adaptive monitoring technology.According to various types of heritage ontology monitoring indicators, the corresponding evaluation criteria are formulated, and the early warning and grading evaluation model of the heritage is further constructed.Combining the theory with practice, based on Suzhou Classical Gardens which include the Lingering Garden, the Geisha, the Canglang Pavilion, the Nets Garden, etc.,and the Fuzzy Clustering Comprehensive Evaluation method, the early warning and grading evaluation practice of various heritage ontology is facilitated. Finally, the monitoring and early warning system for the landscape heritage consisting of monitoring indicators, monitoring programs(including monitoring content, monitoring methods and monitoring techniques),early warning and grading evaluation models, and early warning grading conclusions are obtained. The research will provide guidance for the rational development of Suzhou Classical Garden Heritage monitoring work, and also provide reference for relevant research on monitoring and early warning of other cultural heritage sites in China.
