As one of the important urban road traffic signs,the guide signs help maintain the order of road use,reduce the probability of traffic accidents,improve traffic safety,and improve the efficiency of road traffic system operations.In recent years,urban road participants have increasingly demanded guidance signs.Looking at the current status of development at home and abroad,experts and scholars have conducted in-depth discussions and analysis on the layout,size,color ratio,layout principles,and layout methods of traffic guidance signs from multiple perspectives.However,there is no specific study on whether there is a coupling relationship between the height of the Chinese characters on the signs and sign plate height and how the two settings affect the different positions of the driver's visual mark layout.The purpose of this article is to analyze the change rule of visual recognition time with the word-plate height ratio under different driving speeds,construct a regression model of visual recognition time,establish a comprehensive evaluation index of visual recognition,and propose a method for setting road signs to improve the efficiency of visual recognition,to provide a reference for further perfecting the layout of the guide signs and optimizing the layout of the guide signs.Starting from the driver's visual recognition characteristics,the driver's principle and process of processing guidepost information are analyzed.A new concept of "word-plate height ratio" was proposed to signify the coupling relationship between the height of the Chinese characters on the sign layout and the height of the sign board.Characterization indicators are determined which are initial fixation time,initial fixation time,total fixation frequency,and etc.With the help of Smart Eye Pro experimental equipment,through the driver's understanding and response characteristics evaluation experiments,collecting pupil diameter,viewpoint coordinates,and recognition time data.Quantitative analyzing the correlation between the word-plate height ratio and the efficiency of the road signs to convey information,and building a model of the relationship between the recognition time and the word-plate height ratio.Determining the change rule of the visual recognition time with the word-plate height ratio under different driving speedsTo analyze the effect of different areas of the logo layout,the equivalent experiment method is used to refine the sign layout,then the area of interest of the sign board is divided into L,M,and R areas,and defined.gaze point.Using the analysis software eyes Dx,the experimental parameters are obtained statistically.Through the paired sample t test,the visual recognition index is determined,and the visual recognition comprehensive evaluation index F is established by the principal component analysis method,so as to evaluate the driver's visual recognition effect on different areas of the sign layout at different driving speeds.According to the results of the study,methods for setting signposts are proposed to improve the recognition efficiency,including three aspects:the setting of the word-plate height ratio,the setting of multi-information signposts,and the setting of complex signposts.Through theoretical analysis and experimental data comparison,the effect of the proposed setting methods are analyzed.The research results provide ideas for the optimal design of the guidance signs in actual projects.
