Research On Campus Space Planning And Design For The Purpose Of Promoting Interdisciplinary Communication

With the rapid development of China's national economy and the implementation of the strategy of invigorating the country through science and education,China's higher education has entered a period of development with the theme of "innovation".To cultivate innovation,more and more architects pay attention to "contact space" in innovative campus design in recent years.However,for busy researchers,how effective is "contact space" in promoting communication and innovation? According to the author's observation,there is little communication between researchers but lots of elders with children in the outdoor contact space of South China University of Technology.As for MIT,which is known as the "creative factory" in the world,though its "contact space" is limited,its special form of campus space promotes researchers' understanding of scientific research progress of other disciplines during the daily commuting,thus stimulating a large number of interdisciplinary innovation results.This makes the author start to think from a varied studying viewpoint that campus space promotes communication and innovation besides "contact space" and make a quantitative research on the relationship between campus space and occasional interdisciplinary communication,aiming to explore a new method of innovative campus planning and design accordingly.This paper is divided into four parts: theoretical background,relevance analysis,method establishment and practical application.In the first part,the research background,research object and research status at home and abroad are described,and the quantitative research of "space-interaction-innovation" is summarized.In the second part,the relationship between campus space and occasional interdisciplinary communication is analyzed based on communication theory and practical cases.The influence factors and related indexes of the occasional interdisciplinary communication are determined,and a quantitative formula to express the relationship between campus space and occasional interdisciplinary communication(i.e.potential of occasional interdisciplinary communication of the campus space)is put forward.In the third part,based on the data of Wushan campus of South China University of Technology,the pedestrian simulation model is built with GAMA simulation platform,in which the potential of occasional interdisciplinary communication is taken as the output index.A quantitative analysis method of campus space is preliminarily established.In the fourth part,in order to promote the occasional interdisciplinary communication,the author optimized the design of a scientific research building group in Wushan campus hypothetically.The quantitative method is used to evaluate these schemes to provide reference for the design decision.
