Traditional villages,as the roots of modern cultural development, have beco me increasingly prominent in value in recent years, and their conservation develo pment model and path research have yielded rich results. However, traditional vil lages still face dying doom in the wave of "modernization." The root cause is th at villagers lack a sense of identity with their homes, and it is generally believe d that villages are no longer "fields of hope" but "pronouns" of poverty and bac kwardness. Therefore, the first priority for the protection and development of tra ditional villages is to rebuild the cultural confidence of villagers and attract the r eturn of villagers.Only by satisfying the inheriting subject——will of the villag ers,and ensuring the daily life and economic income of the villagers, can the vi llagers be attracted to return and let the villagers consciously protect the "home";then it is to excavate the unique culture of the traditional village and let the "o ld tree sprout" become a powerful means for the villagers to reproduce themselv es,realizing the "live" protection of the village and the sustainable development of modernization. The prosperity of any ethnic group in the world has its own unique regiona l cultural color, and tribes and villages are the best cultural carriers. With the ac celeration of urbanization, especially the improvement of transportation facilities,it has brought opportunities and challenges to the tourism development of traditio nal minority villages in Enshi Prefecture. On the one hand, tourism industry has increased the economic benefits of traditional villages, and it has also brought N ew Cultures and New Ideas to the villages, resulting in many traditional villages overemphasizing economic development, while ignoring the traditional cultural pr otection of the villages.Their development model tends to the way of urban con struction, destroying the original local atmosphere of traditional villages. At prese nt,most of the traditional villages in Enshi Prefecture adopt the " relic-style " p rotection model: delineate the protection scope of the village, prohibit villagers fr om self-construction activities, maintain the original ecological structure of the vil lage, and focus on repairing and maintaining historical buildings. The goal is to protect the traditional villages as a "cultural heritage" carrying space. The short-t erm goal is to pave the way for the development of original ecological rural tou rism,so as to use the "external force" to drive the social and economic develop ment of the village.Although this kind of protection mode quickly preserves the cultural carrier of traditional villages and promotes the economic development of villages in a short time,it also ignores the unique cultural value of traditional vi llages. It is not a "solidified" building community itself, but a "living" rural settl ement culture, including all aspects of village space and life. Therefore, the unila teral "relic-style " protection model of traditional villages,in order to expect the development of tourism and promote the economic development of the villages, cannot protect the long-term interests of villagers, and at the same time cannot g uarantee the effective protection and sustainable development of traditional village s.Based on this, this article starts with the integrity of traditional village cultu re,combs relevant research literature, clarifies the overall composition of traditio nal village culture, focuses on the protection strategy of Yumuzhai in Tujia tradit ional villages in Enshi Prefecture, and conducts in-depth investigation and analysi s of the implementation status quo of Yumuzhai cultural relics protection, and an alyzes the positive benefits and negative impacts of the village's aboriginal colle ctive relocation into the new village, and tries to explore the “living state” prote ction approach of the village culture through in-depth analysis of the overall composition of Yumuzhai's traditional culture, proposes the revival of cultural heri tage function and the overall space activation and protection model: to clarify t he cultural value of Yumuzhai,to reshape the cultural space of the village,to a waken the cultural self-confidence of the villagers,to stimulate the “inner power”of villager's own adjustment,to realize the sustainable development of the villa ge,and to gradually remove the "hollow",which provides reference and enlighte nment for the model and path of the traditional village protection and developme nt in the Enshi area.
