| In the current context of frequent natural disasters in china, the temporary resettlement of disaster victims needs to be solved urgently. This thesis selects the combination of generative design methods and post-disaster modular temporary housing as the topic. From the perspective of providing fast and efficient design solutions to research the generative design methods and the temporary resettlement of post-disaster victims.Architecture is being nowadays radically rethought in the design processes it employs, moving away from the traditional approach of “individual signature buildings” or from a simply functional design to the programmed or resulting from generative processes,in which evolutionary intelligence plays an important role, this is a way of creating architectural structures as a result of a programmed system. This thesis aims to develop a computational methodology to quickly generate a non-standard modular temporary housing system and a diversity of planning settlement combinations to provide an efficient and scientific post-disaster modular temporary housing design proposal. The research and exploration of this thesis will provide a new research direction for the combination of temporary resettlement of disaster victims in China and computer-aided architectural design(CAAD),the emergency of the relocation of victims of a natural disaster is the motivation for this study the emergence of new computational geometries. The computational methodology to be conceived, will allow to test an efficient and fast design process that can be adaptable to different site conditions. It means that the abstract computational algorithms or processes can be adjusted in a more optimized way to local geographic, topographic or sociological conditions, and to the specific needs of the en d users. The thesis is mainly divided into three parts: Firstly, overview of the relevant contents of modular temporary housing after the disaster, including the definition and structural system of modular temporary housing, the advantages of modular temporary housing for post-disaster reconstruction, and the practice of representative architects of temporary buildings after the disaster, and analysis of the existing post-disaster temporary housing aggregation methods; Then the post-disaster modular temporary housing generative design method research, which is mainly to study and analyze the two generative design methods of cellular automata and ant colony algorithm.Use cellular automata to generate a modular temporary housing unit combination method, and use ant colony algorithm to plan the evacuation road streamlines of temporary housing after the disaster. These two computational methods contribute to the discussion about designing with architectural parameters, responding to functional needs of populations, but at the same time allowing a great freedom in the combination of the architectural forms.Along the thesis the medium of programming allowed to model and control complex residential settlements and to refine a computational design process that simulates real local conditions in post-disaster environment; Finally,it is the specific post-disaster modular temporary housing design method. This method was developed based on the two generative processes mentioned above.A specific programming language is used to conceive the housing models. The computational method will allow the generation of endless variations in the organization of the housing u nits and urban settlements.Such emergent results will be critically analyzed and conclusions will be drawn.Through visual programming language, this study explores the combination of monomer modules and the planning level of temporary communities in post-disaster temporary housing based on the generative design method, aiming to combine digital technology with the actual situation of disaster relief in China, and greatly improve the design quality of temporary housing after disasters and the efficiency of disaster relief resettlement. |
