Research On Contemporary Chinese Neo-Vernacular Architecture Design

Owing to the “Beautiful Country” policy and “Village Revitalization” strategy promulgated at the national level,domestic architects have taken the initiative to turn their creative perspectives to rural areas and actively started thinking about the local environment,which is reflected in the surge in the practice of neo-vernacular architecture.Due to the outstanding performance of some creative ideas or social benefits,some neo-vernacular architecture works in Zhejiang have made useful practices and explorations in rural economic development and cultural renaissance,and have won architectural awards at home and abroad.These projects are the epitome of the exploration of neo-vernacular architecture design in contemporary China,and have certain research value.Based on the research of architects 'new vernacular architecture design works in Zhejiang area,this paper explores the design characteristics of contemporary neo-vernacular architecture in China,analyzes the problems and dilemmas contemporary neo-vernacular architecture design has faced,and provides reference for the subsequent research and practice of neo-vernacular architecture.First of all,this paper sorts out the advantages of neo-vernacular Architecture in Zhejiang.The Zhejiang government encourages and supports the design of going to the countryside at the policy level.A good economic environment has created an open and inclusive environment in the province,and rich traditional villages have also bred unique local culture.Many local and other design units create a good creative environment.In addition,this paper points out the key creative areas such as Lishui Songyang,Huzhou Anji and Deqing,Hangzhou Fuyang and Tonglu.Secondly,it is explained that the "going to the countryside" activity of contemporary architects is a multi-dimensional rural revitalization activity involving rural economy,industry and culture.By integrating multiple forces to participate in rural construction,a sustainable economic model for rural construction is guided.In the design of the new-vernacular architecture,fully explore the vernacular culture,protect and inherit the rural cultural context.The design process fully understands the villagers' demands,creates rural public space,and reflects the architect's sense of social and responsibility.Thirdly,from the perspectives of planning layout,functional space and formal aesthetics,this paper analyzes the characteristics of the architectural ontology reflected in contemporary new-vernacular architecture design.At the planning and layout level,there are different adjustment and integration strategies for different rural environments.In terms of architectural space and functions,new rural buildings with multiple functions such as public services,cultural exhibitions,homestays,and dwellings have appeared.And different types of projects adopt flexible spatial organization methods.At the level of formal aesthetics,through the fine-tuning and updating of architectural forms,interior display and decoration,visual expression of light,etc.,the architects explore the formal language suitable for the local context.Finally,It is pointed out that following the traditional rural skills and intervening new technologies is the trend of contemporary rural construction.The concrete manifestations include the improvement of local materials and traditional construction methods,appropriate intervention of new structural systems and modern construction methods to the countryside,and improvement of the thermal performance of the envelope structure.
