Due to the characteristics of large-span space and high-capacity,university qymnasiums have become the main venues for campus sports activities and celebrations. In the context of composite functions, the behavioral mode of rapid assembly of high-density crowd in a short time brings new challenges to the operation and maintenance safety of university gymnasiums. In order to ensure the evacuation safety, this study collected a large number of behavioral data of university gymnasium users for statistical analysis, put forward a multiple regression model to explain the potential impacts of space composition, evacuation behavior and environmental perception university gymnasiums on safety evacuation, and put forward corresponding design strategies. In the theoretical fundamental research, the concepts and spatial characteristics of university gymnasiums are clarified,in which the disaster bearing characteristics and vulnerable spaces are investigated, the emergency mode and stress psychology of user crowds are discussed, the potential impacts of environmental factors on crowd perception are analyzed, and the multiple regression models are elaborated from building spatial composition, pedestrian evacuation behavior and environmental perception.Through the cases analysis of university gymnasiums, this study summarizes the common traffic organization and evacuation mode, and develops a questionnaire survey for the users of university gymnasiums combined with the influencing factors of safe evacuation.Through statistical analysis of the relevant data and questionnaire information, users’ feedback and demands on the spatial composition, evacuation behavior and environmental perception of university gymnasiums are obtained.Based on the multiple regression prediction model, using Stata 16.0 software, the data of building spatial composition, evacuation behavior and environmental perception are analyzed in depth, and the mechanisms of relevant factors on evacuation effects and evacuation evaluations are obtained. The results show that the familiarity of evacuation system, the difficulty of seat finding and the degree of vertical traffic congestion have a significant impact on the evacuation performance;behaviors such as mutual assistance, pushing and high-frequency electronic communication interfere with the stability of evacuation process;improve the visibility of obstacles, signs and pedestrian channels will help promote environmental perception and thus improve the effect of safe evacuation. Finally, based on the above data analysis results and multiple regression model, the design strategies of safe evacuation of university gymnasium are proposed. The first is to improve the circulation of university gymnasium, and the users’ familiarity with the evacuation system and passageways, optimize safety zones and set up emergency command stations;the second is to maintain the emotional stability of the staff, reasonably guide the beneficial evacuation behavior, and effectively seperate the stream of crowd;the third is to strengthen the visual and auditory guidance system, and improve the thermal environment of university gymnasium buildings in case of disasters.Based on the results of statistical analysis of crowd evacuation experiences and behaviorial data, this paper discusses the relationship between spatial composition, evacuation behavior, environmental perception and safe evacuation of university gymnasiums, and then proposes a multiple regression model to analyze the factors of safe evacuation and put forward the optimal design strategies, which provide a new perspective for improving the research of safe evacuation of university gymnasiums.
