Study On Regenerative Design Of The Cave Dwelling At The Sidi Village

The contradiction between the regional architecture and urbanization is becoming increasingly conspicuous with the rapid development of the modernization in China.In recent years,the urban and rural construction in China have entered a new period,which experienced a lot of changes,and many problems spring up due to constant demolition,construction and refurbishment,e.g.,how to demolish old architectures and construct new ones in large scale;how do the old architectures survive in new environment;how to retain the exclusive regional culture and avoid all in the same key when construct new architectures;in what way should the regional architectures be retained in the background of protecting and inheriting traditional cultures.Traditional folk house is the symbol of regional culture,and cave dwelling has strong regional characteristics.Shanxi Province has a large number of cave dwellings,though a few cave dwellings were abandoned due to the rapid development of modernization,and some of the cave dwelling are still used by resident.Therefore,this study is meaningful to research how to survive the rest of the cave dwellings.A regenerative design method is proposed and used in researching the cave dwellings at Sidi village,Tunliu District,Changzhi City,Shanxi Province.Some field investigations and comparative studies were conducted to make contributions to protecting and inheriting traditional residential architectures and traditional cultures.This study is divided into five chapters:In chapter one,the significance and purpose of the topic are put forward in the Introduction,besides,the definition of cave dwelling and regenerative design is clarified based on the research of scholars at home and abroad.In chapter two,the general situation of cave dwellings and Sidi Village is described in this part,and the historical evolution of cave dwellings in Sidi Village is sorted out,in addition,the current situation and existing problems of cave dwellings in Sidi Village are analyzed and summarized through field investigations.In chapter three,the architectural space of cave dwellings in Sidi Village is analyzed from the type,component,architecture features,and architecture decoration of the cave dwellings.By comparing present situation,advantages and disadvantages of three kinds of cave dwelling,and the independent cave dwelling is found to have a stronger possibility for regeneration,which can provide theoretical basis for the following regenerative design.In chapter four,the significance of regeneration design of cave dwellings is clarified through the study of the first three chapters,and the principles for regenerative design are proposed based on a comprehensive study on cave dwelling.Additionally,the inheritance and variation of regeneration design for cave dwelling are summarized.In chapter five,the regenerative design is applied to the Li*zong independent cave dwelling at Sidi Village in combination with the theoretical basis of the previous four chapters.In chapter six,the conclusions are drawn to summarize the research contents of this study...
