The Urban Rail Transit is a public area with high passenger transport density.The guiding sign can guarantee the operation of the station,and the sign's Visibility Catchment Area(VCA)is important for ensuring efficient passenger flow and emergency evacuation.The sign's VCA is the area covered by the guidance information,and it's one of the most important indexes of the sign's design and setting position.Considering the special environment inside the station,the VCA's influencing factors within station is different from other situations.Therefore,discussing the factors which affact the VCA of signs within subway stations,quantifying the sign's VCA then studying the influence mechanism between factors and sign's VCA are helpful to evaluate the sign's guiding ability in the station,and provide direction for improving the sign's guiding ability.This paper analyzes the factors that affect the sign's VCA within subway station first.Then we collect the basic data through practical investigation,experiment,and existing research.Based on data,this paper gives the interval estimation of sign's maximum visible distance through the pivot method,and uses Origin to establishes the single sign's VCA quantitative model,then deduces the sign's VCA quantitative model of the key local within subway station through Newton-Leibniz formula.Finally the sign's VCA model is effective and suitable for the subway station with the example verification.The specific research content is as follows:(1)Selecting the influencing factors.Considering the layout within station,sign's setting and geometric properties and physical properties,and the deviation of viewing angle,this paper discusses the influencing factors of sign's VCA.(2)Data collection and quantitation analysis.Based on the influence of the station on the sign's VCA,establishing the investigate and experiment schemes,then collecting the data of each part's dependency degree,the layout and signs setting of key local,and the sign's maximum visible distance.Then we give the confidence interval of the farthest visible distance of the sign with 95% confidence by pivot method,and we quantitatively analyze the relationship between each influencing factors and the sign's VCA within subway station.(3)The single sign's VCA quantitative model.Based on data and analysis above,discussing the experession of the functional relation between sign's maximum visible distance and influencing factors.After calibrating parameters through Origin,the single sign's VCA quantitative model is constructed,and this model can quantify the area of a sign's VCA.(4)Building the sign's VCA quantitative model within subway station.Considering the typical layout and sign setting within subway station,and the single sign's VCA quantitative model,we construct the integrand of key local's VCA.Then based on the Newton-Leibniz formula and MATLAB,building the sign's total VCA quantitative model and sign's overlapping VCA quantitative model within subway station's key local.(5)Taking the example analysis of Beijing Urban Rail Transit Station-Xizhimen Station.Collectting the data of layout and the actual value of sign's VCA within Xizhimen Station through experiment.Compares the actual value with the output value of the sign's VCA model,and the results showed that the sign's VCA quantitative model is effective and suitable for the signs within subway station.
