Research On The Architectural Education And Early Practice Of Chinese Modern Architect Yu Ping-lih

YU Ping-lih is prominent among modern Chinese architects.He accepted the most complete and authentic “beaux-arts” architecture education and was the first Chinese architect to receive the D.P.L.G credential.After returning to China,he became a professor of National Central University and conducted lots of outstanding architectural practices.Whether for the source of China's architectural education or the architectural practice research of the first generation of Chinese architects,YU Ping-lih is one of the indispensable and worthy of attention.In this paper,the relevant literature and manuscripts retained by YU Ping-lih have been meticulously organized and studied.The research focuses on his architectural education and early architectural practice,and then attempts to analyze and clarify the connection between them.The main body of the thesis is divided into four parts: the first part organized the existing data and confirm the life experience of YU Ping-lih;the second part studies his architectural education system and content,summing up the characteristics of architectural education in beaux-arts.The third part is to interpret and analyze the representative works before 1937,and summarize the characteristics of its creation at this period.Finally,the paper discusses the relationship between the architectural education and the practice of YU Ping-lih,and then find his historical position.This thesis is about 56,000 words,74 pictures,and 9 forms.
