Study On The Defense Characteristics Of Ancient City Wall Of Xiang Fan In Ming And Qing Dynasties

Xiangyang is located in the south of Nanyang Basin,which is under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province.Historically,Xiangyang’s strategic position has long exceeded the local regional and has overall significance.The convenience of transportation makes it have the prosperous scene of "thousands of sails gathered,all business clouds gathered" in the era of peace,and the outstanding situation of its mountains and rivers also makes it a place of war struggle.There have been more than 200 wars in the region.It has been adjusting and strengthening its own city defense system in the course of attack and defense,forming a unique space pattern of military defense,and is the forerunner of ancient city wall defense theory.So it is not advisable to completely copy the experience of ancient city walls such as Xi’an and Nanjing.Therefore,this paper focuses on the two cities of Xiangcheng and Fancheng,and explores the value of the ancient city wall of Xiangfan from the perspective of war.It may provide some research ideas for the ancient city wall similar to the military town of Xiangfan,and provide more basic information for the protection of the ancient city wall.This paper hopes that the heritage of the ancient city wall can play its due value and benefit all mankind.The full text is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,expounds the research background and significance of the ancient city wall,defines the relevant concepts of the ancient city wall,and determines the research object of this paper.Through the literature review,it is recognized that the research results of the ancient city wall are mostly concentrated in the ancient city wall of the capital city and the king city,while the ancient city wall of the state city,the county town and so on is rare.The second part is the second chapter.This paper analyzes and collates the history of the ancient city wall of Xiangfan,puts forward the concept of war-oriented wall,and reveals fundamental location different from that of the ancient city wall in other areas.The third part is the third and fourth chapters.From the angle of military war,the particularity of military operations in Xiangfan area is analyzed from the view of overall military geographical characteristics and Xiangfan regional geographical characteristics.The spatial layout,defense facilities and logistic support system in the city defense system of Xiangfan ancient city wall are summarized and analyzed by the particularity of military operations.The fourth part is the fifth chapter.By combing and summarizing the materials and techniques of ancient city wall construction,the characteristics of city wall construction are obtained.These construction characteristics lead to the ancient city wall in the construction of the city defense imperial system in fact there is a certain time difference before and after construction,which opened the history of Xiangfan ancient city wall real existence form.The fifth part is the last chapter of this paper.Combing the history of Xiangfan war,it can be found that the area is not always in the core area of war,the frequency of military war in Xiangfan area decreased sharply from the Yuan Dynasty,and the construction of Xiangfanancient city wall changed because of the weakening of military function demand.This change also affects the future development of Xiangfan.
