The high-speed rail system in Guizhou, which undertakes the majority of passenger transportation between east China and south central and southwest China, plays an important role in improving the transportation infrastructure and promoting regional economic development along the routes.High-speed railway stations can promote the economic development of big cities and the central cities of the railway network, but the impact on county cities remains to be studied.Taking Guizhou high-speed rail system as the research object, this paper explores the effect of high-speed rail construction on the regional economy. In order to alleviate endogenous problems, this paper regards the opening of high-speed rail in county territories as a quasi natural experiment and adopts a DID model on the basis of the statistic data of all 88 counties in Guizhou Province in 2007-2018 to measure the impact of opening of Guizhou high-speed rail on the regional economy along the routes from such aspects as economic growth, employment and industrial upgrading.Regression results show that the opening of high-speed rail has a significant negative effect on the GDP development levels in adjacent areas, which is conducive to the regional employment rate?It has a significant positive impact on the added value of primary industry, but a negative correlation between the added value of tertiary industry and the upgrading level of industrial structure.Next, this paper conducts a series of robustness tests such as tests and counter factual tests for the parallel trend hypothesis of the DID model and reallocation of the control group with PSM-DIDmethod to verify the accuracy of the empirical findings of the DID model and enhance the reliability of the empirical findings.
