Study On The Environmental Improvement Of The Ping’an Bridge Catholic Church In Chengdu

Have the charecteristic of Chinese and western culture,Chengdu Ping’an Bridge Catholic Church have been relatively kept intact in the southwestern region of china.Its architecture reflects the combination of Western Catholic religious culture and Chengdu’s native culture.At the same time,due to the unique artistic value,historical cultural value and Catholic architectural value of the church building,it was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in March 2013.However,through current research on the status of the Ping’an Bridge Catholic Church,this study found that there are some issues need to be solved,such as weathering and erosion issue on some building facades,and the surrounding environment of the building does not fully reflect the characteristic culture of the church.It hope that the research can improve the status of church building and the surrounding environment,in order to achieve the purpose of protecting historical buildings and landscape environment.Firstly,the books,dissertations,photos and other materials of the Ping’an Bridge Catholic Church were collected and organized in this thesis,and the domestic and international theoretical results and excellent cases were analyzed.Secondly,through multiple field investigations and surveys on the Ping’an Bridge Catholic Church,the construction history,architectural characteristics,and surrounding environment of the church building were analyzed and summarized.Thirdly,in view of the existing problems in the protection of church buildings and the surrounding environment,principles and methods for building protection and environment improvement were explored.Finally,an effective way was suggested to maintain the damaged facade,and a design plan for improving the church building’s landscape environment was proposed.
