With the improvement of China's comprehensive national strength and urbanization level, the development of sports has been attached great importance by the state.China has successively hosted international and national large-scale comprehensive or special sports competitions, and the construction of sports facilities has entered an unprecedented period of high tide. Moreover, the passion of nationwide body-building is rising much higher. However,China's sports buildings still have problems such as large energy consumption, blindly following the trend and ignoring the regional, sustainable and inadequate adaptability. In addition, different cities have regional differences in geographical environment, cultural environment, economic environment and development. The design and development of sports buildings are also a process of coordinating and adapting to the environment. What is more, there are few researches on the comprehensive and systematic regional adaptability of sports architecture in China. Therefore, the research on the design of "regional adaptability" of stadiums and gymnasiums is put forward. The "regional adaptability" of stadium design in this paper mainly refers to the coordination and adaptation between the "organic subject"--stadium design and its "objective environment"--regional economy, regional nature and regional humanistic environment under the guidance of architectural adaptability thinking.First, set up the theory of regional adaptability of stadium design. In the article, the architectural adaptability thinking is used to integrate the design elements of sports venues and the regional influence factors,so as to put forward the theory of sports venues' regional adaptability design, which will guide the analysis in the following chapters.Secondly, the strategy of regional adaptive design of sports venues is proposed, which is explored from three aspects: regional economy and technology, regional nature and regional culture.Based on the theory of regional adaptability design of sports venues, the strategies of meeting regional economic and technological needs, meeting regional natural conditions and giving consideration to regional cultural characteristics are put forward to guide the regional adaptability design of sports venues in China. Finally, based on the actual project, the article analyzes the regional adaptability design practice of sports venues in Dongshan County cultural and sports center.Meanwhile,it discusses the advantages and disadvantages of sports venues in Dongshan County from three aspects: regional economy and technology, regional nature and regional culture.Sports venues in Dongshan County meet the needs of regional economy and technology.Fit the natural conditions of the region, from catering to geomorphic features, adapt to climatic conditions, use of regional resources analysis;it gives consideration to regional cultural characteristics and analyzes the connotation of island culture and humanistic ideology.Since Dongshan County sports center is still in the preliminary design stage, this paper focuses mainly on the planning, layout and architectural design stage of the project, and considers the construction and operation in advance. In the end,by using the regional adaptability strategy of sports venues, aiming at the shortcomings of Dongshan sports venues in adapting to regional economy and technology, regional natural conditions and regional humanistic features, the optimization strategy is put forward to combine theory with practice. The results of this research is to indicate an appropriate strategic basis for the future regional adaptive design of similar sports venues, and to provide references for further subsequent studies,so as to improve the design level of sports venues in China and facilitate sustainable development.
