Elderly's Willingness To Age In Place And Its Influencing Factors In Public Rental Housing Neighborhood

In recent years,our country has developed the construction of public rental housing(PRH)to solve the housing problem of the urban residents with housing difficulties.A large number of elderly groups have gathered in the PRH community.How to effectively solve the problem of elderly care of these elderly groups is worth exploring.This study investigates the elderly's willingness to age in place in the PRH community and builds a model to explore the influencing factors of the elderly's willingness to age in place.This study designed a questionnaire and conducted the survey of the elderly's willingness to age in place in the PRH neighborhood.Based on the results of the questionnaire survey,the descriptive statistical analysis method was employed to capture the characteristics of the elderly tenants who had the willingness to age in place in the public housing neighborhood.Based on the relevant theories and reviewed literature,the factors influencing the elderly's willingness to age in place were divided into four categories,that is,personal situation,living experience,pension concept as well as home care services.The generalized ordered logistic model was built to explore the main influencing factors of the elderly tenants' willingness to age in place.The results showed that the elderly tenants in PRH neighborhood have a higher overall willingness to age in place,which is influenced by various factors.In terms of personal soci-economic characteristics,female elderly tenants have a higher willingness to age in place than the male elderly tenants do.Meanwhile,elderly tenants with more family members are more likely to be willing to age in place.With regards to the health and economic status,the more the elderly tenants suffer from illness,the less likely they are to age in place;the higher the level of monthly expenditure,the higher the level of intention to age in place.As for the living experience,the strong sense of community identity and higher residential satisfaction are related to the strong willingness to age in place.In regard to the pension concept,tenants who are more dependent on their children are more likely to age in place.The favorable home-based care services help to foster the elderly tenants' willingness of age in place.The results also found that the interaction effect between health status and home-based care services impact the elderly tenants' intention to age in place.Based on the questionare survey and emprical analysis of determinants of the elderly tenenats' willingness to age in place in the PRH community,it is proposed that the welfare policies for the elderly tenants' aging in place should be improved.The publicity of elderly tenants' aging in place should be strengthened,and home-based care services system for the elderly in the PRH community should be established.
