New energy vehicles have great potential in reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and reducing dependence on petroleum products, and are critical to achieving a low-carbon society transformation. As the main body and main stakeholders of using new energy vehicles, the public understands their acceptance of new energy vehicles, explores the factors affecting the willingness to accept new energy vehicles. It is very important to promote the development of new energy vehicles.Based on the survey data of Gansu province, this study analyzed the public cognition and acceptance of new energy vehicles in Underdeveloped Areas, and used structural equation model to explore the main factors influencing the public acceptance of new energy vehicles. This study found:(1)The public acceptance of new energy vehicles in China's underdeveloped areas is high, with an acceptance index of 3.538,51.99% of the public are willing to accept new energy vehicles. The dependence of women and the public who has not used new energy vehicles are higher, with the increase of age and the decrease of education level of the public, their acceptance of new energy vehicles is decreasing. At the same time, the acceptance of the urban public is higher than the rural public.(2)Perceived risk, perceived cost, subjective norms and quality of new energy vehicles all have a significant impact on public acceptance of new energy vehicles in underdeveloped areas.Perceived risk and perceived cost have a greater negative impact on public acceptance, subjective norms and quality of new energy vehicles have a greater positive impact.(3)Perceived usefulness, knowledge, service, ecological awareness and support policies have no significant impact on the acceptance of new energy vehicles by the public in underdeveloped areas, but knowledge has a significant positive impact on perceived usefulness and a significant negative impact on perceived risk.
