The aging problem has become a very urgent problem to be researched and solved in today's society. With the rapid growth of the elderly population in China,China's old-age care institutions are also in the period of development.Although the era of global aging has not yet come, the research on aging Countermeasures in China is not "preparing for the future".As the core area with the highest frequency of use for the elderly in the elderly care facilities, the room space meets the elderly's important functions such as leisure, sleep, storage, healthy eating, etc.the design of the room space is an important link that affects the elderly's feeling of staying in the elderly care institutions,so it embodies the importance of the research on the design of the room space aging. This paper is based on the mismatch of supply and demand in China's Old-Care market, the serious separation of design and operation, and the uneven level of institutional construction.Based on the detailed field survey data, the existing problems in the elderly care institutions are found out,and the specific design methods and key points of space optimization are summarized. This paper is divided into six chapters, which are arranged as follows:The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly describes the research background, research purpose and significance of the current old-age care institutions in China, and summarizes and combs the relevant research status and experience methods at home and abroad. At the same time, the paper defines the concept of the Old-Care model and the spatial living object. The second chapter analyzes the characteristics of the physical changes of the elderly, and classifies and studies them.First, according to the different stages of the elderly to analyze the difference of space size demand, and then analyze the impact of the elderly physiological function decline. Finally, through the analysis of the elderly's psychological characteristics and corresponding environmental measures, make a theoretical basis for the aging design of the room. The third chapter further elaborates the related concepts and design principles of the elderly care institutions, including the types of rooms, service categories, spatial allocation needs, factors affecting the construction of the elderly care institutions and the demand analysis of the spatial allocation of the elderly care institutions,so as to provide a more solid theoretical basis for the following practice. The fourth chapter adopts the method of field research. On the one hand, through the investigation of the old-age care institutions in the major cities nationwide,it collects the characteristics, institutional management methods and types of living space of the elderly in the old-age care institutions to form an overall and comprehensive understanding;on the other hand,it selects the typical cases of three representative cities in China to focus on the investigation of the old-age care institutions, observe and record them Input the behavior patterns of the elderly, nursing staff and managers in each functional space, obtain in-depth and detailed first-hand information, summarize the aging design key points of the elderly care institutions' rooms, and provide the aging suggestions for the functional space of the elderly care institutions that are suitable for China's national conditions. The fifth chapter applies the above suggestions to the actual cases, summarizes the diverse and feasible design suggestions, and provides practical and effective reference for the reformation design of other old-age care institutions. The sixth chapter is the conclusion and Prospect of the paper, summarizing the results of the design and research work, the feasibility and limitations of the research results.
