Taxonomical Study Of Meligethinae(Coleoptera:Cucujoidea:Nitidulidae)from China

Insects of the The subfamily Meligethinae are natural pollinators,they have important economic significance.Present thesis deals with taxonomy of the subfamily Meligethinae of Nitidulidae from China.The research history of Meligethinae is reviewed both in China and worldwide.Their morphology,the material and methods,as well as geographical distribution are introduced.In this thesis,4 genera,70 species are included,of which 3 species are new to science,6 species are newly reported from China.A check-list of world Meligethinae and keys to all the genera and species are given.The morphological photos of 28 pecies are provided and the male genitalia are illustrated.New species and new Chinese records are as follows:New species:Meligethes nyingchiensis sp.nov.,Meligethes scrobescens sp.nov.,Meligethes wangi sp.nov.New record species to China:Cyclogethes orientalis n.rec.,Meligethes alani Kirejtshuk,1988 n.rec.,Meligethes dilutipes Easton,1956 n.rec.,Meligethes matronalis Audisio et Spornkraft,1990 n.rec.,Meligethes merkli Kirejtshuk,2001 n.rec.,Meligethes flavimanus Stephens,1830.Most of the type specimens of new species are deposited in the Institute of Zoology,Chinese Academy of Sciences(IZAS),a few of them are deposited in Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences(ZIN)and Naturhistorisches Museum,Basel(NMB).
