In order to understand the diversity of the phenotypic characters of flower and fruit of ornamental crabapple,It can be targeted to introduce good varieties,and lay the foundation for breeding new varieties,so as to improve their utilization in landscape,the morphological characteristics of fruit,flower and branch and leaf of different varieties of ornamental crabapple were compared and analyzed in this paper.Results were as follows:There were significant differences in the appearance of fruit shape,fruit shape index,single fruit weight,fruit stalk,soluble sugar,titratable acid,sugar acid ratio and other intrinsic quality,especially fruit abscission period and fruit stalk length in different varieties.The characteristics such as flower color,flower bud color,pedicel color,flowering period,flower diameter,pedicel length,petal number,and petal length and flower petal width of different varieties of ornamental crabapple have been studied.It was found that the difference of flower characters between different varieties was very significant and the coefficient of variation of flower number was the largest.The genetic variation of leaf length,leaf width,leaf stalk length,annual branch length and internode length of different crabapple varieties were analyzed.The results showed that the maximum variation coefficient of petiole length in the leaf index of ornamental crabapple was 24.53%,and the variation coefficient of annual branch length in the index of branches was 49.38%,and the different varieties were in each branch leaf shape.There were significant differences in morphological traits,and the length of branches was the main factor causing differences among varieties.Based on the investigation and analysis of the phenotypic diversity of the branches,leaves and flowers of crabapple,the comparison of the different color evaluation methods showed that the anthocyanin content of the flower of crabapple was significantly related to the anthocyanin content of the branches and leaves.It could be used to predict the color of flower through the color of the leaves or branches of the crabapple,thus guiding the early breeding.It will provide new ideas and methods for future genetic breeding,and it is of great significance to the breeding of ornamental Chinese flowering crabapple.
