A Comparative Study Of Cost And Benefit Of Pig Breeding

Animal husbandry has occupied a dominant position in China’s rural economy since ancient times,and it is one of the main ways for farmers to increase their income,its level of development is crucial to the country’s agricultural modernization.The status of the pig industry in animal husbandry is particularly important,striving to promote the stable development of the pig industry is an effective way to improve the living standards of farmers and promote the development of grain reform feeds,at the same time,it also embodies the deep strategic significance of “Pig Food Security”.Although China is currently a big country for pig breeding,China is not a strong country for pig breeding compared with developed countries.At the same time,there are still some problems that cannot be ignored in China’s hog industry,such as low level of modernization,huge cyclical fluctuations,hidden dangers in the quality and safety of pork,and a low degree of scale intensification,Therefore,it is still a long way to promote the stable and healthy development of China’s hog industry.Based on the definition of the pig breeding cost,scale and related concepts,this paper uses comparative analysis methods and other methods,making use of the monitoring data of the Ministry of Agriculture to study the current situation of changes in the cost-benefit of hog farming in China.A detailed explanation is given in the following aspects: First,on the basis of the 《Compilation of National Cost-to-Return Data for Agricultural Products》,the cost items used in this paper are summarized and formed,In addition,some of the concepts used in this article are defined and explained,such as farming scale,farming areas,farming patterns and so on;The second is to conduct a comparative study of the cost and benefit of hog farming from different scales,different regions,different models,different historical periods,China-America,and provide a comprehensive explanation;The third is to draw the analysis conclusions based on the content of the paper and put forward proposals on this basis to promote the healthy and stable development of the national pig industry.The study found that piglets costs and total feed costs are key items in the production costs of live pigs.From the cost and benefit of hog farming of different scales,the small-scale and backyard scales have cost and profit advantages.Piglet costs are mainly affected by the level of technology management,purchasing channels,and bargaining power,the total feed costs are mainly affected by feeding technology,feed structure,bargaining power,and live pig weight.From the cost and benefit of hog farming in different regions,East China and North China have cost and profit advantages.Piglet costs are mainly affected by resource endowments,geographical location and natural conditions,the total feed costs are mainly affected by geographic location,technical management level,live pig weight,and corn price.From the cost and benefit of hog farming in different modes,self-propagated and self-supporting households have more advantages in cost and profit than professional growers.Piglet costs are mainly affected by the purchasing channel,the total feed costs are mainly affected by market conditions and breeding behaviors.From the cost and benefit of hog farming in different historical periods,since 2010,the total cost of hog farming has been on the rise,and the pig live weight is in a rising trend,which is basically rising at an annual rate of 1.18%.The total cost is mainly influenced by the price level and the pig market,sales revenue and net income are mainly affected by seasonality,disease,policy,market supply and demand,and pig live weight.From the cost and benefit of hog farming in China-America,the total cost of hog farming in China is half higher of that in the United States.In terms of piglet costs,the cost of piglets is higher than 10% in the United States.In terms of feed costs,feed costs are approximately twice that of the United States.Piglet costs are mainly affected by the reproductive efficiency of fertile sows,the total feed costs are mainly affected by the corn price.Based on the above conclusions,this article proposes the targeted recommendations: The first is to increase the scale of the pig industry;the second is to promote the development of the trend of "Southern North Pig";The third is to strengthen prevention and control of live pig diseases;The fourth is to focus on the development of the feed industry;The fifth is to focus on cultivating pig breeds;The sixth is to improve the construction of relevant systems for the pig industry;The seventh is to encourage planting and breeding.
