Study On The Operational Efficiency And Influencing Factors Of Peasants Forestland

The core of collective forest tenure reform in the new period is to designate the property rights between the collectives and the individuals.With the reform of clearing property rights and allocating mountains to families,the problem emerged: the forestland operational scale is becoming small and scattered.Scholars have a great dispute between the operational scale and efficiency.Moreover,they believe that it is difficult to measure the operational efficiency while the investment lasts a long period.Obviously,to calculate the forestland operational efficiency of peasants and analyze the influencing factors have great theoretical and practical significance.In the paper,peasants in Meizhou are selected as the research object to analyze the forestland operational situation and calculate the efficiency.Based on the analysis,I will explore the factors influencing peasants’ forestland operational efficiency.By analyzing the forestland operational situation and calculating the efficiency of peasants in Meizhou,we can come to three conclusions.First,the average operational efficiency of forestland of peasants in Meizhou is only 0.566.Second,the returns to scale is maily constant or decreasing judging from the samples.Third,in the field of input redundancy,the pomelo accounts for a higher proportion while the ratio of the eucalyptus is not high and the pine tree is relatively low.And peasants overspend seedling charges and chemical fertilizers and pesticides on China fir.According to the analysis above,this paper further discusses factors that influence forestland operational efficiency.We also find three conclusions.First of all,age and education have no significant influence on forestland operational efficiency.Secondly,the operational efficiency has no significant correlation with operation period but significantly correlates with species.Finally,the operational ways and operational efficiency are not significantly correlated,while capital investment has a significant influence on the efficiency.This subject can be further researched by the following two points.First,I expect to do a deeper research and obtain more detailed data of production and operation,so that I can analyze the operational efficiency of different varieties and scales between different regions.Therefore,I may conclude the moderate scale of household forestland operation.Second,I expect to do a research on forest production,logging,transportation and other process to study the effects on operational efficiency,making the analysis more scientific.
