Water and soil conservation monitoring is a very necessary task in construction projects. With the development of science and technology, traditional monitoring methods have been unable to achieve the goal of acquiring water and soil conservation monitoring information efficiently and accurately. In recent years, unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)technology has gradually been applied to water and soil conservation monitoring. This paper studies the applicability of UAV in water and soil conservation monitoring of Yellow River-to-Baiyangdian Water Transfer Project, and analysis the influence of different flight parameters on water and soil conservation monitoring information for the first time. After testing the flight parameters in Ganluqiu spoil area,we found that all relative deviation of the spoil area is within 5%,and most relative deviation of the spoil volume is within 10%for different flight parameters.Although the water and soil conservation monitoring information extracted by the UAV technology have nonnegligible bias, they all within a reasonable range, and can be applied on daily monitoring work as for reference. The relationship between aerial height and DOM images is analyzed. For construct the achieved image,a high degree of overlap is required and it should be guaranteed to be over 60%,also,the UAV life time should be considered when make the selection. When using UAV to acquire DOM images,it is not recommended to use the angle of 450 as the flight parameters, otherwise the ground detail performance may be poor.In general, there is no specific set of parameters that perform very well in all aspects of water and soil conservation monitoring. The appropriate flight parameters should be selected based on site conditions and the users' own needs. The results of this study can provide a reference for the application of UAV technology in water and soil conservation monitoring in plain areas, and make it to be better applied on water and soil conservation monitoring.
