Fall webworm(Hyphantria cunea(Drury))is a world quarantine pest which has caused serious economic loss on the agriculture and forestry.The research will explore the related genes from the synthesis pathway of sex pheromone in Hyphantria cunea(Drury)and lay the foundation for developing the environmental-friendly pesticides.Basing on the transcriptome results of 12 organisms and instars in Hyphantria cunea(Drury),we did the analysis of gene expression patterns and homology,then the candidate genes which may take part in the synthesis of sex pheromone were selected.The main research results are listed in the following:According to the summary of these transcriptome results,we got 15347 unigene totally.Basing on the gene enrichment distribution analysis,we found that the majority of genes participate in the biological pathway,like metabolism.However,there are just a small part of genes participate in signal transduction and no genes are able to participate in reproduction.Basing on the annotation of the transcriptome,we got 122 unigene which may take part in the sex pheromone synthesis pathway.Aiming at these unigene,we did an analysis of expression pattern and homology,we got 15 candidate genes finally.Phylogenetic trees were built to identify the genes which did not obvious in the last analysis.We found that the PBAN genes were not conservative,there were not obvious clustering.In the analysis of PBANr,we found that the related species was clustering significantly,the outgroup not performed together,it confirmed that PBANr was conservative and it is related to the relationship among the species.The PBANr genes in Hyphantria cunea(Drury)was clustering with the genes in Noctuidae,it showed that Hyphantria cunea(Drury)is related to the species in Noctuidae.We made an analysis of the composition and content of the volatiles in the sex gland basing on the GC-MS.We got 17 chemicals and some chemicals with fragrance occupied a large part of the content,they may be the tools to deliver the chemical signals to other individuals according to the reaction after eating the mulberry leaves.The research can enrich the gene source as well as supply the theoretical bases for the new way which can be used to control the pest.Basing on the homology of the key genes of sex pheromone synthesis pathway,the relationship between Hyphantria cunea(Drury)and other species has been identified.According to the analysis of the volatiles in the sex glands,the chemical communication of the species has been replenished.
