The Empirical Study On The Production Behavior Of Beef Cattle Farmers In Jilin Province

With the rapid development of Chinese economy and the continuous improvement of the income level of the residents,the dietary structure of people has also changed,and the demand for beef has been increasing.The development of beef cattle industry is closely related to people's daily life,and the culture benefit has gradually become a new bright spot for farmers to increase income and become rich.Jilin Province is located in the center of Northeast Beef Industry Zone,by aid of the good beef cattle varieties,rich forage grass and feed resources and suitable climate,the beef industry has developed rapidly and steadily,and has become one of the dominant beef cattle production areas in China.Although some achievements have been made in the development of beef cattle industry in Jilin Province in recent years,the contradictions between the development of beef cattle industry and ecological protection and benefit distribution between breeding cows and fattening cattle have become increasingly prominent in the process of beef cattle breeding.A series of problems are restricting the sustainable development of the beef breeding industry in Jilin province such as the livestock on hand of high quality breeding cattle and basic cows decrease rapidly,the low livestock on hand of fattening cattle,low standardization level of beef cattle breeding and the hidden danger of beef quality safety.As a direct participant in beef cattle farming,the production behavior of beef farmers is directly related to beef production,beef quality,production costs,benefits and whether farmers will continue to produce in the future.Therefore,it is particularly important to study the production behavior of beef farmers.Based on the domestic and foreign scholars' research on farmers' behavior,this paper constructs its analysis framework.Firstly,it analyzes the development goal,history and current situation of beef cattle industry in Jilin Province,and finds out the problems existed in the beef cattle breeding industry in Jilin Province.Secondly,based on the data of field investigation,the paper starts from the current production situation of beef cattle farmers,conducts descriptive statistical analysis on the production behavior of beef cattle farmers,combined with the research results of previous scholars,it analyzes the main factors that may affect the production behavior of beef breeders.Thirdly,based on the field survey data of Jilin Province,it starts from the aspects including the characteristics of production decision makers,household characteristics of farmers,risk characteristics,organizational characteristics and environmental characteristics,and conducts empirical analysis on the production behavior of cattle farmers from the new technology adoption behavior,breeding scale decision-making behavior and quality and safety control behavior by aid of the binary Logistic regression model.The research results are as follows.The results show that: Firstly,the attitude to risk,the number of training and government subsidies have a significantly positive impact on beef farmers' willingness to adopt new technology,and the age of beef farmers has a significantly negative impact on farmers' technology adoption behavior.Among all the significant influencing factors,the age of beef farmers is the most significant factor.Secondly,whether the beef farmers are village cadres,their physical condition,rearing style,attitude towards risk,whether they participate in beef cattle industrialization organizations,and government subsidies are the significant positive factors that affect the behavior in scale expansion of beef farmers.The number of years of cattle farming has a significantly negative impact on the behavior of farmers to expand the scale.Among them,the number of years of cattle farming,their physical condition,whether they participate in beef cattle industrialization cooperation organizations and government subsidies are the most significant factors.Thirdly,the farming scale,expected income,sales contract,the degree of government supervision,drug residues,whether they participate in training,whether they join in cooperatives,cooperative services are significant factors affecting farmers' quality and safety control behavior.Among them,the farming scale,sales contract and drug residues are the most significant factors.In view of the above results,this paper puts forward the following suggestions: Firstly,strengthen the technical guidance and training for cattle farmers;Secondly,improve the agricultural technology extension system,strengthen the cultivation of agricultural technology extension personnel;Thirdly,guide farmers to have large scale farming;Fourthly,improve the quality and safety awareness of beef cattle producers,and establish the epidemic prevention and control system;Fifthly,increase the financial support of beef cattle farming;Sixthly,increase the policy support of cow breeding;Seventhly,develop various forage feed resources and improve the farming efficiency.
