In recent years, with the improvement of people's living standards, more and more people have chosen to keep pets, especially cats. However, the incidence of pet cats has gradually increased due to the improper management of cats indoors and the increasing number of multi-cat household.Feline lower urinary tract disease(FLUTD)is a nutritional metabolic disease.According to statistics,it accounts for 4%to 10%of the total number of cases in the clinic, and this data has a rising trend.Feline lower urinary tract disease is not the simple name of a single disease, but refers to the generic term for the simultaneous occurrence of various diseases including cystitis;bladder stones, and urethral stones. The main clinical symptoms are hematuria, dysuria, frequency of urination, partial or complete urethral obstruction. There are many causes of feline lower urinary tract disease,in addition to its own factors, such as breed, gender, age, weight, and whether it is sterilized. It is also closely related to factors such as diet structure, environment, and seasons. The clinical symptoms of feline urinary tract syndrome caused by different reasons are also different, and the diagnosis and treatment methods used are also different. This study systematically investigated the incidence of feline lower urinary tract disease in Suzhou, analyze its epidemiological characteristics,we also conducted research on the diagnosis and treatment of typical clinical cases,we hope that it could provide scientific basis for the treatment and prevention of feline urinary tract syndrome in this area. The clinical cases of feline lower urinary tract disease(FLUTD)were obtained from 4 representive animal hospitals in Suzhou area from January of 2016 to January of 2018.The results indicated that there were 234 of 5120 outpatients were confirmed to be feline lower urinary tract disease. The morbidity of Feline lower urinary tract disease was 4.57%in Suzhou area.Of all cases, there were 178(76%)male felines and 56(24%)female felines; There were 156 cats have been sterilized and 78 cats have not been sterilized. The most susceptible cat breed was the Chinese pastoral cat with 143 cases(61.11%),followed by the British short haired cat with 42 cases(17.95%).The most susceptible age was 1?2years with 78 cases(33.33%),the second was 2?3 years with 44 cases(18.8%),9?10 years old cats do not have the disease. The average weight of male cats with FLUTD was 4.45±0.95 kg,while average weight female cats was 3.11±0.62 kg,these results showed significant difference in statistic(p<0.05).The most susceptible time was December with 31 cases(13.25%),the second was March with 25 cases(10.68%),the least was May with 8 cases(3.42%).In clinical practice, male cats often suffer from obstructive diseases such as bladder stones and urinary tract stones, while female cats usually have non-obstructive diseases such as urinary tract infection, urethritis, and cystitis. For cats with non-obstructive diseases,we usually take conservative treatment methods such as antibiotic therapy, catheterization, feeding of special urinary tract prescription foods, and improvement of feeding management. For cats suffering from obstructive disease,in addition to conservative treatment options, surgical treatment can also be used, such as cats with bladder stones can take bladder surgery and cats with urinary tract stones can take urethral incision or Urethral stoma surgery. The cure rate of surgical treatment is higher than that of conservative treatment. However, cats with different health status, especially older cats may be at risk of anesthetic metabolic abnormalities, and the damage to the cat's body is greater. Therefore, when choosing a treatment plan,it is necessary to make an accurate judgment on the severity of the disease, and then choose the appropriate treatment plan.
